So I have just under 4 weeks to the Bloody Long Walk (35 kms) and really looking forward to doing it again. Had a small injury about 6 weeks ago in my left butt, but it is ok now to continue training. 13.01.2022 Stacey’s story: When I first started training with Matilde my calorie intake was very low. I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch, only dinner. I thought that the less I ate, the more weight I would lose. I was tired all the time and had no energy. Our first session was an eye opener as Matilde taught me a lot about nutrition and calorie counting. To my surprise she told me that I wasn’t eating enough. Ever since then I have been eating 3 meals a day and averaging 1,500 - 1,800 cal...ories depending on my training. I lost 5kgs and feel better than ever. Knowing what I know now I could never go back to starving myself of the food I need. 07.01.2022 Liam’s Weekend Training Tip: THE SQUAT One of my favourite movements. It is a very technical movement and can cause a lot of damage if not performed correctly. A few key points to think about before the lift: - place the bar comfortably across your shoulder blades, either high bar or low bar what ever is more comfortable for you. ... - have the heels of your feet planted firmly into the ground, like you're drilling the earth with your heels. - take a deep breath and hold it. - utilise the hip hinge to reach your depth and then drive through your heels. Bringing you to a standing position. -reset and repeat the last two points. Due to the range of motion I have (me personally) in my hips and shoulders I have to have a wider stance and grip to fully activate all the right muscle groups. This set up works for me and I feel the benefits from performing this movement like this. I do not have power back pain and my legs grow and get stronger. However your stance is, perform the squat. It's an amazing movement and can help produce a great physique and strength. If you don't know how to squat, get a coach that knows what they are doing. Having a good coach is the most beneficial thing you can do for your health and fitness. What's your favourite movement? Any coaching enquires or just general question about lifting, my DM is always open.

01.01.2022 We have some absolute LEGENDS in our club and Tony Laws is one of them! Last weekend Tony completed ‘The Bloody Long Walk’ (35km) on the Sunshine Coast to raise over $1,500 to help find a cure for mitochondrial disease and to support Tails of the Forgotten. After just over 5 hours of pounding the pavement, up and down hills, winding thru bush tracks and ending up on the beach, Tony came in 28th out of 1,250 people and 1st in his age category. Not only did he set himself a challenge, but he achieved it and raised money for 2 very worthy causes. You are a champion Tony and you set a high standard for the rest of us. We are so proud of you.
