23.01.2022 DRINKING ALCOHOL FAT LOSS/MUSCLE GAIN Tracking alcohol (7 calories per gram) into your daily calorie target. Our bodies metabolise alcohol differently to protein, carbs & fat, and can not be converted to glycogen to use for energy... . Approximately 20% of the alcohol will go into the blood stream and the remaining 80% is metabolised as acetate. Acetate is a toxin which means our bodies main priority is to excrete it, and to do this efficiently, all non essential bodily functions are shut down - one of those being fat metabolism. . Recovery time is incredibly crucial to a fitness regimen, which is why you should pay attention to your sleep schedule.... Getting the 8-hour recommendation (or more) into your routine may help you feel more energized, work out harder and build lean muscle quicker than your lack-of-sleep regimen. Most athletes are recommended to get between 7 to 10 hours of sleep, because it is so crucial. When your muscles recover adequately, you are more likely to come back stronger than before. Sleep also improves mental health and hormonal balance.

09.01.2022 UPDATE As of 11:59pm Sunday 2nd August, face coverings will need to be worn by all Victorians when they leave home. What this means for the gym... If you are doing exercise or a physical activity where you are out of breath, you do not need to wear a face covering. You must carry a face covering with you and wear it before and after you exercise. If you have a lawful excuse such as a medical condition, where it would be dangerous for you to wear a mask while walking around, then you do not need to wear a face covering. It is important that you keep social distancing between yourself and others while exercising, even when wearing a face covering. A face covering MUST be worn before and after exercise. You MUST wear a face must UNLESS you are anticipating you will be out of breath or puffing. This is interpreted on an individual basis, as different movements and intensities are felt at different levels by a person. Staff will be wearing a mask at all other times except when talking to members who have hearing impairments that require lip reading or need to give clear directions to a member ect. If you wish to wear a mask even if you are not legally required, you may do so. Please note that this information may change at any time! Please feel free to ask any questions if you are unsure!

01.01.2022 Tips From Cynthia When it comes to tracking your macros and wanting to loose weight / fat loss, one thing to make sure it that your in a calorie deficit (this being the most obvious) .... Secondly, make sure to incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables why? Because not only are they low calorie, low carb and high in nutrients they provide alot of micronutrients to your body that processed foods do not. . It also helps get you closer to your Fibre number of 25g for females and 30g for males.
01.01.2022 Over the weekend there was an exciting announcement from the government confirming that restrictions are easing in gyms! For now, gyms must continue to be staffed with a Covid Marshall at all times to operate. It has been confirmed that this will be reviewed in two weeks which will hopefully see the return of 24/7 trade. *fingers crossed* Venue capacity has now been increased up to 150 people with a maximum of 1 person per 4 square metres ... These changes are effective immediately and if your membership is currently on hold due to recent restrictions and you'd like to recommence training, we encourage you to contact us via email or phone to reactivate your membership.
