25.01.2022 We are over the moon that Paddys River Dam, in Bago State Forest, has reopened in time for the long weekend. Forestry Corporation (Visit NSW State Forests) have done an amazing job with major infrastructure & road repairs to this bushfire-affected area. Visitors are asked to be mindful of ongoing roadwork, timber harvesting & haulage operations in the area, and follow signage instructions. Access to Paddys River Campground is via Elliott Way to Bago PowerLine Rd, to Ash Cre...ek Rd, to Bullongra, to Hardys, to JDX, to Houlihans Track. Alternate access is via Dog Tree Road to Bannons Rd, to Hardys, to JDX, to Houlihans Track. Please avoid Back Creek Road. To view a map of closed areas in Bago State Forest, please see https://visitsnowyvalleys.com.au//Bago-Public-Access-Oct-2 See more

25.01.2022 Please note that the Hume and Hovell Track is closed until midnight tomorrow due to a Total Fire Ban for parts of NSW including the Eastern Riverina. Please note: Whenever there is a Total Fire Ban on any section of the Hume and Hovell Track, the entirety of the track is closed until the ban is lifted. This is for the safety of hikers and emergency service workers. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe in this hot weather.
24.01.2022 A couple of months ago Visit Snowy Valleys hosted the wonderful Caro Ryan, of Lotsafreshair, as she walked the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail. Today we received our copy of Great Walks magazine, featuring her article about her experience walking the 21km trip from Tumbarumba to Rosewood. Grab a copy from your favourite newsagent.

20.01.2022 Over these school holidays, and the approaching long weekend, people will be flocking to Blowering Dam to enjoy boating and fishing, along with their favourite caravanning and camping spots. We remind everyone that some restrictions remain in place for camping in the area. Visit NSW State Forests have confirmed that Blowering Dam’s western foreshore will remain closed throughout the school holiday period and over the October long weekend due to dangerous road conditions fol...lowing widespread fires earlier in the year. This is the Batlow side of Blowering Dam. (See media release at https://www.forestrycorporation.com.au//releases/2020/blow) The area below the high water mark (on both sides of the dam) is managed by WaterNSW, and is open for day use only. This means that no camping is permitted below the high water mark. The eastern side of Blowering, above the high water mark, is NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. Camping is permitted in official campsites, and must be booked in advance via the National Parks website https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodat Please see the Visit Snowy Valleys website https://visitsnowyvalleys.com.au/travel-updates/ for further details. #VisitSnowyValleys #ComeFindUs #Love : @tasteoftumut at Log Bridge campsite, #BloweringDam via Instagram

18.01.2022 Happy Wombat Hazelnuts have sold out of their delicious #batlow hazelnuts until May next year. It's been a tough 2020 for them, but we're looking to their berry harvest in December. Mmm, berries! #VisitSnowyValleys #ComeFindUs #LoveNSW #HolidayHereThisYear #Repost @happy_wombat_hazelnuts via Instagram... Some disappointing news for all our customers..... we have SOLD OUT of hazelnuts for 2020! The nut beds are empty and the sheds are empty. With two thirds of our crop lost during the summer bushfire we tried to stretch the supply out as long as possible. Many thanks to all who supported us with harvest, processing and purchasing. We aim to be back with Hazelnuts for sale around May 2021. In the meantime we’ll still be working out in the orchard, gearing up for berry picking (starting late December) and working on a few new projects for the farm. See more

17.01.2022 Need some tips on capturing the perfect tourist shot? Take your cues from Instagrammer @rally_jung's effort at the Tumut Broom Factory while visiting the region The factory produces millet brooms, and visitors can see the process for themselves as well as purchase a broom to take home (or use as a photo prop). It's located opposite the Tumut Region Visitors Centre so it's a great first stop once you've got all the information, maps and brochures for your stay. #VisitSnowyValleys #ComeFindUs #HolidayHereThisYear

14.01.2022 Dinner with a view, anyone? Instagrammer @frankgquinlan sure picked a top-notch spot at Blowering Dam's Humes Crossing campground. The dam is one of the largest in the state so you can take in expansive water views like this from a number of locations. Best make it an overnight stay so you linger a little longer too. Make sure you book when camping in the area. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has campgrounds above the high water mark on the eastern side. Below th...e high-water mark, they're managed by WaterNSW Community. Sites can be booked via their respective websites, there are no camping fees but a $6 booking fee applies. No camping is currently allowed on the western (Batlow) side as Forestry Corporation (Visit NSW State Forests) have closed access due to fire damage for the foreseeable future. We'd love to see where you head out exploring in our region this summer, share with #VisitSnowyValleys and we'll repost our favourites. #ComeFindUs #LoveNSW #HolidayHereThisYear See more
