24.01.2022 Hi everyone, we have been really hoping that we could go ahead with our October show but with the COVID-19 restrictions in place until the 1st October, it doesn't give us enough time to organise things - so our October show is now officially cancelled. BUT we haven't cancelled the date and are hoping that we can run a clinic and training day in it's place, depending on what the new restrictions look like. If you are interested in coming along for lessons on the Saturday and Training Runs on Sunday (for all levels of rider) please let me know in the comments below.
23.01.2022 Thank you to Southern Cross Reining Horse Association for sponsoring our club. https://www.facebook.com/scrha/

Lots of familiar names and faces that were all vying for the spoils on offer. For the best saddles to ever sit on the back of a Reiner, we once again say many thanks to Rick Meredith Custom Saddles for bringing us this segment.

22.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello to all SNSWRHA members both old and new. Well what a start to a year that was meant to be our best yet. All our sponsors had stuck by us, membership was up, our Beginners Series and Trip to the USA competition had sparked interest right across the Reining Community and then.....Covid 19 struck. What can you do??? Well the committee is still very committed to our projects and therefore we have moved the Cooper's Performance Horses Beginners Ser...ies as well as the trip to USA competition to the 2021 season. Dates will be advised as soon as the future is a little clearer. We still intend to hold further Beginners Clinics as soon as restrictions on Social gatherings are eased (hoping for this year) and Graham has re-affirmed his commitment to running these clinics for us. Given that we have not been able to run shows or clinics so far this year and don't really know when we can, the Committee has unanimously agreed to carry over all Memberships paid for this year to the 2021 show season. In the meantime, I hope you all can keep riding and be ready for when we can get together in the "Pen" once more. Keep safe and healthy, Regards, Rod Shaw

20.01.2022 Throwback Thursday Last week was all about the Olympics and the outstanding achievements of the Aussie Team as they had the ride of their lives in front of a ...bumper home crowd in Sydney. One of the equine stars from those games, Freckles Gay Doc was having a great year indeed, winning some decent prize money in events such as the $10,000 Super-stakes at Sportsworld in Nelson. Once again, we are sticking with the Naughties and welcome you along to the year 2000 NSW State Championships. Photo Credit - Gail Shaw

15.01.2022 Throwback Thursday Seeing that 2020 was meant to be an Olympic year (thanks COVID19) we have decided to take a trip back in time to the year that the best Ol...ympics were held in the best country and of course the best sport everREINING was a part of the action (albeit as a demonstration sport having just become a recognised FEI discipline). Welcome to the Naughties ..Part One (the National Futurity). In the very late 90’s and early naughties we were known as NRHA Australia, our president was Steven Withers, we had created a new rule book, started up Equitana Masters, brought in Bit Gauges as well as competing at the Olympics and all before being affiliated with our American counterparts. Things certainly looked bright at the start of a new millennium and the 2000 National Show was no exception with 32 entries in the Open Futurity and a total of 26 horses competing over 2 go rounds with the top ten going into the clean slate finals! Your judges of course were Ollie Griffith USA & Shauna Larcombe and your winner (in the most unusual run off ever seen) was none other than the legendary Ian Francis. 13.01.2022 With the Corvid-19 situation getting worse, we haven't any choice other than to postpone all our promotions planned for this year. This will include the Beginners Silver Bridle Series and the Trip to the USA. We are still hoping to be able to run a couple of shows and clinics later in the year, but probably not enough to have people qualify for these events. So these will be transferred to the 2021 season. Thank you for your understanding.... We will still try to keep everyone up to date with what is happening in the world of reining via this page.
13.01.2022 NOT GOOD ENOUGH Ever worried about not being good enough in the show pen? You’re definitely not alone. When it comes to limiting beliefs in all their manifestations, the fear of not being good enough ranks No. 1 among riders, regardless of the level at which they compete. This underlying thought process sucks the joy out of your competition experience at best, and, at worst, stops you from showing up altogetherbut you can overcome it. 11.01.2022 Meet the Pro - Graham Cooper Stockinbingal, NSW Coopers Performance Horses Graham is an NRHA Professional Trainer and Judge specialising in the training and ...promotion of the Reining Horse for breeders and owners who share the same passion. Graham mainly trains and shows Aged event horses setting them up for longevity for his non pros, where many have had great success. Clinics are held throughout the country mainly focused in NSW & VIC on a monthly basis. Located in the Riverina region at Stockinbingal, Graham and Steph also have a successful breeding program utilizing their beautiful stallion 'Cromed By Custom' and frozen semen from USA stallions. Why do you love Reining? Definitely the horses and the addiction for perfection .... I love the challenge of how you can train a horses mind to execute high speed manoeuvres with finesse and keep a calm, willing attitude ..... plus the connection and partnership you develop with them. Favourite Manuever? All of them but there nothing like running at speed and dragging their butt on a pitched rein. Current Horses? I have 4x nice 3yo's who are yet to be shown they are sired by Gallo Del Cielo, Cromed By Custom, Colonels Shinning Gun and Hello Big Chex. What do you bring to RTA Clinics? Building confidence and making it fun for riders. Giving back to the sport... Sponsoring various Reining horse Clubs, provide free clinics for clubs to raise money, sitting on various club committees and of course by promotion of the Reining Horses by showing at any shows we can get to. Outside of Reining? Training horses doesn’t leave a lot of time to do anything else but I love training my kelpie dogs, when I did have time I did a lot of sheep trialing with them. 11.01.2022 GVRHA Coronavirus COVID-19 Update It is with great disappointment that we announce the postponement of our 2020 Genetically Gifted Buckle Up & Slide Reining Spe...ctacular that was to be held 18th - 23rd May. The GVRHA Committee discussed this matter in great length and this decision was not made lightly. We are currently in discussion with the venue to obtain a future date for later this year. At this stage we have a tentative date booked for 2nd - 7th November and will advise as soon as a future date has been confirmed. We apologise to our members, sponsors and competitors, however, we want to convey that the health and safety of our members and guests is our first priority. We are all in this together, please keep safe, wash your hands and practice SOCIAL DISTANCING!!!! Take care - GVRHA Committee

We would love to see all our old photos of members/riders and their horses at club shows from the past. PM to the club or email them to [email protected]... I'll start it off with these old photos I found from around 1998/1999 and 2008

04.01.2022 Throwback Thursday Welcome to the Naughties ..Part Two Reining at the Olympics The Sydney 2000 Olympics was the platform to which NRHA Australia (as we w...ere known then) along with the AQHA could showcase to the world the fantastic sport of Reining and doing so all from the comfort of our own backyard. It is understood that the NRHA had tried for some years to have Reining added to the Olympic cycle, but this had proved unsuccessful on their part. Our Aussie riders took the world by storm, doing themselves proud right throughout their Olympic program and on their final day of competition there was an estimated 22,000 people in attendance along with a massive media contingent that surrounded the arena. The riders had to qualify for the Olympics throughout the year at the Victorian & Queensland State Shows as well as the National Championships, competing in the Open Classes at these events. This brought back out the older horses (as to perform at the Games the horses had to be 5 years and older) this of course made a huge spectacle at these shows along with big money up for grabs. The buckles to commemorate the Olympic event (which the NRHA presented to the riders and the organisers) are the only 9 of their kind in existence. Many familiar names and faces can be found in the articles attached, a lot of whom are still heavily involved in our industry todayLet the Games Begin!!!! 04.01.2022 It is with much regret and sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 GVRHA 'Genetically Gifted' Buckle Up & Slide Reining Spectacular. We had hoped... that by postponing this show from May to November this year we would be able to proceed with our annual event but unfortunately due to the ongoing uncertainty and restrictions surrounding COVID-19 here in Victoria and the Tatura Park venue unsure of a date they will be able to re-open, the decision has been made by the GVRHA Committee to cancel this event for 2020. We look forward to seeing you all back in the saddle and showing again hopefully before too long! - GVRHA Committee

03.01.2022 UPDATE; We are hoping that as soon as NSW Government restrictions for the number of people allowed to be outside together reaches 20, we should be able to start running our clinics again. This could happen in the next couple of weeks. Once this is announced we will let you know when, where etc. We are hoping to be able to go as soon as they say we can. So keep an eye on this page!
03.01.2022 How true lol!!!
02.01.2022 Congratulations to Amanda Pincott on winning our raffle.
02.01.2022 Start planning to go now! The GVRHA Show is always a great one to attend
02.01.2022 Here are some photos from our Beginners clinic this week end. Many thanks to Graham Cooper for passing on his extensive reining knowledge and making it easy for everyone to understand. I think everyone picked up something and had fun doing it.
01.01.2022 Due to the border closures, we now have 2 vacancies for our Beginner clinic with Graham Cooper on the 18th and 19th July to be held at CSU Wagga. Now is your chance to book in if you missed out earlier. Contact our Secretary at [email protected] or Message here for more information and booking forms.
