20.01.2022 After a bit (ok...alot!) of swearing & stuffing around I've managed to create Snug's Linktree page for easy access to Snug's Website, Facebook & Instagram. There are also additional links to useful articles & Australia-wide support options that have their own specific excellent information & resources to access if ever needed. *Linktree link is available in Facebook Bio or just click below https://linktr.ee/SnugCounsellingAu... I've added a link to 'Snug's Linktree' as a Menu option also on Snug Counselling's website - www.snugcounselling.com - if you wish to access it there I will continue to add to, stuff around with & likely swear some more as time goes on in Snug's Linktree space, so all I ask is your patience & understanding if you ever catch the page mid-edit...this could be anytime of day or night lately as my sleep schedule has gone up Shit Creek without a paddle ...but I'm in the process of finding that bloody paddle believe me! Take care all & stay safe. Shannon

19.01.2022 Sharing a beautiful image my Dad (83) took last night in his backyard astronomy shed in Barraba, NSW of the beautiful & famous Horsehead Nebula. I'm a bit biased but what a mesmerising image! Boggles my tiny mind & makes me reflect on what's important & what's not I hope some of you enjoy the image too Shannon x

16.01.2022 The newest & youngest (8 wks) intern to Snug whose 'duties' are playing, exploring, bringing laughter, giving cuddles, purring incredibly loudly & teaching tolerance & acceptance to the other furry Snug staff. ~ We are all incredibly smitten with the kitten but as an inclusive & fair workplace I take it very, very seriously that all Snug 'staff' feel loved, needed & appreciate for their own uniqueness & talents.... ~ I'm very proud of Luly our doggo & Luna the big sister puddy cat for welcoming Leo so much. Ok, a tiny exaggeration there...it's taken a few days ~ I've also discovered a new grounding technique I'd highly recommend - holding a warm kittens tummy up against your cheek! OMG! Heavenly cuteness & softness. ~ On a serious note, we welcomed gorgeous Leo into our home to help my daughter's, especially my youngest, through the grieving process as it's been a tough time since their dads death in May. As is perfectly normal with grief, the 1st bday of their dad (late Oct) since his death was tough & threw the girls deeper into the grief whirlpool. The storm is settling for now & it's great to see them having moments of joy. (My struggle with all the L names is a constant joke ) Honestly though, how great are fur-babies ~ Happy Saturday all. Stay safe. Shannon See more

13.01.2022 Today I went for my 1st mammogram because Im not getting any younger (Im 46) & I've been on HRT since I had a total hysterectomy & bilateral oophorectomy 4 yrs ago. I could write a book about that but won't rant on about it here you lucky buggers I made appointment online with #breastscreenqld last week. A spur of the moment decision. I always say I want to live to 100 (so much to be, do & see!) so this has been on my 'To Do' list for a while. I admit ytsdy I started thinki...ng things like; "I might just cancel & re-book for another time?" "I have other things to get done which are more important so maybe I'll cancel?" "I feel fine. What are the chances anyway?" (This thought was particularly stupid as I know the stats. Anyone can Google them). "Really I just couldn't be arsed this week. I'll do it later" BUT THEN I KEPT THINKING... "Don't be an idiot. Just bloody do it!" "You've got kids & family so get over yourself for them". "What if you don't & you really should have. You'd be so annoyed with yourself". "You know & have known people who've breast cancer". "It's free! You're fortunate it's just up the road & you don't live in a rural/remote area of Australia where you can't just pop into a Breast Screen clinic on a whim. Count yourself lucky & pull your head in!" Yes I had a momentary thought it may be a bit hurties but to be frank a few weeks ago I had multiple kidney stones & figured it couldn't possibly be as inconvenient as that! So I had my 1st mammogram. For me it wasn't the least bit hurties. Honestly, having my blood pressure taken feels far more uncomfortable. The staff were lovely & so efficient. I had a slight twinge of embarrassment initially at start of process but then reminded myself "For gods sake you've had kids & been through much worse so chill". (*My self talk isn't necessarily what I'd recommend to others but it worked for me today) Im a tad late for Breast Cancer Awareness Month but it doesn't matter which month it is, I want to remind anyone in a at-risk group - REGARDLESS OF GENDER - to please get checked. Early detection is so important. Keep up the self checks too Shannon Pic: Marcela Ilustra #breastcancerawarenessmonth #breasthealthawareness #breasts #boobs #breastcancer #earlydetectionsaveslives #doitforyourfamily #dontputitoff #knowthesignsofbreastcancer #breastcanceraware #breastcanceraffectsmentoo #knowledgeispower #cancercouncilaustralia #mentalhealthwellbeing #snugcounsellingau

10.01.2022 As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust. ~Rememberance Day 2020~

05.01.2022 These situations are never just black & white. Whether you work in a small independent business, government sector, not-for-profit or a large multi-national, the circumstances for each worker who feels like this should never be minimised or dismissed. We spend so many hours at work it's vital for our well-being, & as a by-product, our families well-being, that overall our workplace is one we feel comfortable, valued & empowered within. I know this year, & to be frank, for man...y years prior, employment & job security is hard to find. So once it's gained there is a natural tendency to put up with unacceptable treatment as you may keep reminding yourself "At least I have a job". This thinking can make it even tougher though if you start noticing red flags within your workplace that begin to erode your self-worth & make you question your sanity. This can still occur even if you work from home as you're still required to engage with colleagues & senior staff to fulfil your role. I know many would do almost anything to gain secure employment but please don't allow yourself to be mistreated & compromised if you do secure employment. Workplace bullying & exploitation only remains alive if it's fed & rewarded by use of fear, threats, negative consequences & perceived limited choices. This culture may trickle from the top, from peers or from both. Either way it's pathetic & not acceptable. It's devastating to know there are dedicated, capable & passionate employees all across Australia who've left or are thinking of leaving a job they love purely due to lack of acknowledgement, dissection, effective action & ongoing review by those in positions of power to address toxic workplace cultures. Excellent people can make a crap job bearable, but it's rare crap people can make an excellent job bearable long-term without some effect on the individuals well-being. You aren't alone. You have choices. They just mightn't be clear to you yet. Shannon
