25.01.2022 What do you MEAN people don't want to hear my millions of biology facts?

23.01.2022 Another tip we have to share for enrolled students at Flinders is to check out Oasis Online, a FLO space that has opened up to host what services they used to only have in person. Among their free virtual resources are a meditation session, study tips and 'Take a Break'. You can self-enrol to access any of the online events mentioned in these flyers and can post on their general discussion board if you have any questions related to their events. You can go to this link here ...to find their FLO page, all current students and staff can enrol here (https://flo.flinders.edu.au/course/view.php?id=63157) Oasis Online hosts, 'Take a Break' every week Tuesday 2-3 PM as a fun and informal conversation session led by an Oasis Chaplain. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your English conversational skills, this is the chat for you or it can just be a great chance to talk with people online about something that isn't related to a topic. You can self enrol on their FLO here to access any of their events like 'Take a Break' and discover if anything requires you to pre-enrol. 'Take a Break' may not need you to register, but others may, so it is important to double-check or ask on their general discussion board. If you enrol in their forum you are also notified for limited in-person events that require pre-registration, like the Flinders market that's opening (only for those that pre-registered).

15.01.2022 Hi to all of the SOBA followers The start of semester is fast approaching and that means that O'Week is just around the corner. We are in need of some volunt...eers to help staff our information booth located in the Hub. This is not too hard, as all that you are required to do is explain what SOBA is and what we are trying to do as an organisation, so that the first years can hopefully get on board. It doesn't matter if you are anly available for a short time or a long time, the more of us there are, the easier this will be. It would be great to have 2 or 3 people on the stall the whole time so feel free to invite a friend. The stall times are; Monday 24th February 9:30-3:00pm Tuesday 25th February 9:30-3:00pm and Wednesday 26th February 9:30-3:00pm. Please let James know if you are free to help, either by messaging SOBA or at [email protected] Thank you

12.01.2022 We always try to add events of interest to our page so students are able to be aware of interesting biology related events happening either online or locally in South Australia. There are also typically events of interest to students in STEM seeking professional development. Recently it was brought to our attention there is a networking event happening online hosted by Melanie McCarthy Mentor that brings two of our favourite things together. Professional development and Biol...ogy! An added bonus? Its free to attend. Date: Wednesday 21 October 2020 Time: 6.30 PM to 7:30 PM (AEDT-Melbourne Time) From Melanie's websiteDr Onisha Patel is a structural biologist at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). She has over 15 years of experience in medical research where she uses cutting-edge imaging technologies to capture the inner beauty of the tiny molecules that make up life. These tiny molecules, called proteins, have a unique shape at the nanoscale. When proteins don’t function correctly, they can cause diseases. Onisha’s work uncovers the structure of proteins and contributes to a greater understanding of how they work. Onisha’s talk is titled ‘Opportunities through nonconformity’. She will reflect on her life experiences that has led her to this journey on breaking down stereotypes and looking beyond the obvious. You can find out more info, and sign up at the link https://melaniemccarthymentor.com/onisha-patel-opportuniti/
