23.01.2022 Bulgogi (; "Bool-GOH-Gee" is a traditional Korean dish that thinly sliced meat marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, honey/sugar, sesame oil, sesame, garlic, onion, vegetables, etc. to enhance its flavour and tenderness. Bulgogi can be pan-cooked or grilled to serve with leafy vegetables and ssamjang with rice. It is a staple of Korean households' universal meal and deeply ingrained in Korean culture. The word "Bul-gogi ("fire-meat" literally)" has been used from 1950s. How...ever, the history of Bulgogi, believed to be, started from an ancient Korean kingdom Goguryeo (37BC668AD) called "Maek", marinated, thinly sliced grilled meat. Then it banned by the coming kingdom Silla and Goryeo, being Buddhism ruling. When Joseon Dynasty (12C-17C) declared the end of Buddhism, it came back as Neobiani, meaning thinly spread meat, that specially prepared for the wealthy, nobility, and the royal family. The dish waned during the Japanese invasion (1910 to 1945) with severe beef shortages. Around 1950, the dish came back and called Bul-Gogi, slowly gaining its popularity. Bul-go-gi has survived and bounced for millenniums, and now, arguably, one of the most popular foods in Korea. See more

16.01.2022 The combination of crispy meat pieces and jelly-like sweet and sour sauce are two unique characteristics of "Tang-Su-Yuk". "Tang-su-yuk" is essentially a Koreanised Sweet and Sour Pork with mixed veggies and, sometimes, fruits. According to historical accounts, the birth of modern Korean Chinese cuisine can most likely trace back to the settlement of ethnic Chinese people in Incheon, the main west coast port city, in the latter half of the 19th century. Bite-size pieces of pork lion are coated in a mixture of potato or sweet potato starch batter and lightly fried to make crispy outside yet preserving juicy meat inside. Those are then served with a sweet and sour sauce, which is seasonal vegetables in boiling water mixed in vinegar, sugar, and starch to thicken the sauce.

15.01.2022 Soban House Special Takeaway Menu applied as 26th March 2020!
13.01.2022 Gyoza; "geeowzuh"! One of the most popular meal from our Soban House menus, loved by one-year-old toddler to our mature seniors regardless of the genders. So what is Goyza anyway? Is it different from Dumplings? Simple answer is "Yes!" Gyoza is a typical Japanese dish adapted from the traditional recipe of Chinese dumpling jiaozi.... During World War II, the Japanese enjoyed jiaozi very much while occupying Manchuria. After returning home, they recreated the jiaozi using Japanese ingredients and preparation methods. Soon, the gyoza was born with the texture of its dough and the seasoning of its stuffing: gyoza has finely chopped fillings with more garlic, and the skin is generally thinner and lighter. It can be browned (yaki-gyoza), boiled (sui-gyoza), or deep-fried (age-gyoza). At Soban House, we serve (Yaki) Gyoza, pan-fried to create a wonderful crispy texture that also enhances its unique flavors. We offer a choice of Pork, Prawn, or Vegetable. Sorry it's not gluten-free:( See more
