07.01.2022 Social Innovations is able to provide local governments an opportunity to engage their community in an assets assessment process. The community engagement and capacity assessment process provides opportuntites to garner information from the community that will provide the basis from which to inform local government strategic and coporate planning. The community capacity (capital assets) assessment tool and community engagement process is used to support community developm...ent and the strategic planning process. Capital assets are defined as social, human, environment, economic and built/infrastructure. The process is designed to address the community’s needs, aspirations and challenges. The Community Capacity Assessment (CCA) tool and process provides useful information to assist local governments in decision-making, for example, assist in the planning and delivery of Council program, projects events as well as achieving targets and monitoring progress across key sectors over time. Purpose The purpose of Community Capacity Assessment is to assist a community to determine the relative areas of strength and weakness to achieve certain community or sector aspirations. For example, to increase tourism. The model adopts best practice community engagement by which members of the community (across each sector) engage in and contribute to the assessment process.
