25.01.2022 We love that here in Brisbane/GC we can basically Al Fresco dine 365 days per year. Our favourite outdoor-indoor dinner spot on the GC is @hideawaykitchenbar in Broadbeach which is just a tram ride away from our satellite office. Our favourite Brisbane local is @sixesandsevensjamesst, which is just walking distance from our office and all day delicious dining - what more could you want?! Where are your favourite places to eat and enjoy the warmer weather?

25.01.2022 From our family to yours, wishing you many celebrations with those who you love most!

24.01.2022 AD NEWS | Targeted Facebook ads are about to lose a big audience: iPhone owners. Apple’s iOS14, which is set to roll out this month, features a new function wherein users have to opt into being tracked by advertisers. This will require apps to ask iPhone users’ permission to collect and share their data. Facebook isn’t too happy with this update saying that iOS14 may render their Audience Network (which facilitates the targeting of ads) useless.

24.01.2022 Today at my gym class I overheard a lady mention she needed to turn off the news about the Australian Fires because it upset her. ~ Yes, the fires are distressing to watch but imagine what its like to live it... We cannot look away because its upsetting, we cannot simply send thoughts and prayers to help. ~ Thoughts, prayers and feeling sad doesnt create action or drive change. If you can, please donate to @givit_aus @wireswildliferescue @redcrossau @salvosau @nswrfs to se...nd money directly to the fire fighters and victims. If youre not in the position to help financially - Share, Share and Share. Raise your voice on this issue and bring awareness to whats happening here in our beautiful country. ~ Open your laptop and send an email to your local MP (or Gov. Rep, if outside Aus) Climate Change didnt start overnight but this can be one of the first steps to helping our planet bounce back. This is no longer simply a national emergency but a global one. Weve linked a letter and list of MPs here for you to contact: www.socialcut.com.au/fire-letter Image via @lillidesigns See more

24.01.2022 Who wants to share this one with us?! Amazing spread for a recent training at the Studio from @food.prescription

23.01.2022 The engineering behind Snapchat's dog ears and flower crowns is serious and fascinating.

23.01.2022 Here are the basics you need to know about understanding your Metrics on your Facebook Ads.

22.01.2022 COMMUNICATING IN A CRISIS | Okay so we know seeing another COVID-19 post in your feed probably makes you want to switch your brain off but bear with us for a second. ~ It's a super uncertain time right now for both businesses and customers alike which is why it's really important to communicate what your doing and how this situation is impacting both your business and potentially interrupting your customer interactions. We figured we'd share a few tips to help you craft me...ssages during the coronavirus outbreak to reassure and inform your audience. ~ 1. REMOVE FEARFUL LANGUAGE | It's easy to jump on board with the over-sensationalised messaging that the media have been sharing but ultimately it doesn't help you or your brand. It's important to share that you're doing everything with your power to reduce the risk of spreading germs but without adding to the hysteria that's already being shared. 2. KEEP COMMUNICATIONS OPEN | Give your customers a way to contact you, let them know who they can speak to if they're concerned about their interaction with you. It's useful to share a one-off EDM dedicated to the impacts the virus is having on your business and how the landscape is changing. If you can, set up an FAQ page on your website and update this when you can. 3. BE FLEXIBLE | If it's possible to move things to a phone or online consult, do that. If someone needs to change the date of an event, rather than cancelling, look for another alternative (maybe suggest a weekday rather than pushing it out through the weekend). It seems simple, but by offering more flexible solutions, such as taking payments over the phone and contactless delivery, it helps ensure your business can still operate and your customers feel safe. 22.01.2022 LETS CHAT | so with everything going on in our world right now and everyone feeling pretty isolated (ourselves included), we figured it was a good time to share some laughs and give you a run down on all things Social Media. ~ Weve just dropped our first two episodes of our new Podcast; SOCIAL SNIPPETS. Which is for anyone whos in small biz or just digitally curious. ~ Jump onto Spotify and Apple Music to hang with us now!

21.01.2022 Check out these incredible insights into how the Creative content space will look and sound in 2020.

21.01.2022 CONTENT PLANNING | we know it can be hard to work out what youre going to post about each week and trying to mix-up your content enough to keep it interesting. To be honest we struggle too (whats that saying about the plumber and his own piping again?!). One thing we find super handy is setting themes for posting. For example, each Tuesday could be #TipTuesday. We dont mean use the hashtag each Tuesday and tell the world youre theming your posts BUT what we do mean,... is if youre posting a tip every Tuesday it means you know you have 4 Tip posts to write a month. Come up with similar themes for the other days of the week and voilà a months worth of content done in a few minutes (or hours) rather than days of procrastination. See more

21.01.2022 This year were taking time to set our intentions. Were not doing to do the #NewYearNewMe here at Social Cut. Its a New Year, Same Us but with hopes to achieve bigger and better things (while respecting our personal boundaries and life balance goals).

20.01.2022 CLIENT LOVE | Sometimes were lucky enough to hear what our clients really think of us... And this one certainly made our hearts full The team at Social Cut have gone above and beyond to help me manage my social media effectively, which has led to increased growth and engagement. The flow on effect from their help has meant more client bookings, more online course participants, more brand collaborations and ultimately more exposure for my business. As a busy clinician who had previously little time to devote to growing my social media, I have felt supported and encouraged by the SC team. I would recommend them to anyone who needs some direction, support or advice on social media for business. - @emmamorris_nutrition

20.01.2022 Unless youve been living in a cave without a 3G Signal, itd be hard to have missed that todays International Womens Day. ~ As a GRLPWRed agency, its a day that has the potential to open some really powerful conversations about the wage gap, gender neutrality and the many physical challenges women face on a regular basis. ~ Its also a time where we can take a step back and look at how far weve already come, especially in the last decade.... The fact that our team is a Female Workspace that operates within both the STEM and Advertising Fields (both typically favouring males in both pay and job opportunity) is worth celebrating. The fact that we dont have to hide our age or gender to win new contracts and be considered as professional is a huge win. We know we have a long way to go to no longer need to even celebrate this, where a female founder is acknowledged as simply an accomplished founder but its worth taking the time to celebrate the small wins we have along the way #IWD2020

19.01.2022 There are 3 Billion Social Media users worldwide. Of that, active social media users use messaging and social media for approx. 3 hrs per day. ~ These are likely stats that you already know but if youre not sure how to reach them or what you should be saying to them - our upcoming Social Media Masterclasses might be for you! ~ Next month were kicking off a 6 week intensive program that teaches you everything from getting your Website SEO ready, to writing captions and takin...g killer photos on your phone, to running mini ads to drive traffic to your website (and a whole lot in between). ~ As these will be the first in our Quarterly series were looking to offer a significant discount (aka 30% off) to make sure we get the mix just right. ~ Well be hosting these weekly, after hours in our Social Cut Studio so you get plenty of face to face time. ~ Maximum of 10 per Masterclass series. 19.01.2022 Over the years, weve lost clients. Some are contracts just coming to an end, some were businesses with internal challenges and change, but others have been mistakes weve made. ~ While were not really keen to sing about this part of our business from the rooftop, it is something important to acknowledge. ~ From theses lessons, weve learnt about managing client expectations, communicating better and difference of opinion. But the main thing is weve learnt.... ~ While wed like to win all the time, every time, it doesnt always offer us the opportunity to grow as a brand or individuals. So, heres to learning how to lose. 19.01.2022 2019, THE YEAR OF SOCIAL GOOD | In 2019 75% of people said they trusted their employers and brands to do what was right more than Government or Media. This year was the year that Social Impact really mattered, and next year it will matter more. One of the best parts of Instagram is its ability to level the playing field and share your story. If youre a small business, people are expecting you to do more than sell a Better Product they are looking for you to make things ...Better for Everyone. In 2020, its time to take on your Social Good project and start taking steps toward reducing waste, packaging and negative impact on the planet, while increasing your positive output. Adding in these features will help you remain competitive on value, even if you cant remain competitive with the big guys on prices. Consumers are ultimately happier to spend a little more if they can see their dollars are being put to a greater good. Thats a #WINWIN if you ask us! See more

18.01.2022 CREATIVITY| As a team, we spend our 9 - 5 in front of laptops interpreting data, spotting trends and creating engaging content. While it's both a fulfilling and engaging job, it can also be creatively draining to keep producing premium content each day. One of our biggest tips to refill your creative cup and re-inspire yourself is to step outside of your creative medium. If you're a photographer or graphic designer, head to a Poetry Slam or try your hand at a hobby blog. I...f you're a copywriter or journalist, give painting or pottery a go. If you're multidisciplinary (e.g. a content producer), maybe try a cooking course... You get the idea. We've found it incredibly rewarding to take the time to explore other parts of our right brain and try our hand at something new (even if we're a little embarrassed by our grade 3 level of artistic talent). 18.01.2022 Were so thankful for the rain weve had the last few days, and our friend are too

17.01.2022 Ciao! Were outta here! Well be back on deck from 6 Jan 2020.

17.01.2022 Who else needs a creativity nook!? ~ Were fairly social creatures here at Social Cut. This is fab when it comes to brainstorming, collaborating on projects and having a laugh or ten... but not so great when you need the next big idea or have a killer deadline. ~ Thats where our Smaller Social Studio comes in, its not actually an office we use on a daily basis so its perfect for getting away and burying your nose in your laptop.... ~ Wed love to know - what are you hacks for a quick mental reset when youre drawing blanks? 16.01.2022 PUBLIC SPEAKING | Did you know that our office chatterbox @paula._.araujo hosts a podcast called @stumblethroughpod? She recently presented at the @supernova fest in Brisbane, so we wanted to ask her how the heck she overcame the fear of public speaking? ~ Her number one tip was Stop thinking about yourself!, its easy to get in the mindset of everyones watching me and freeze up. But by taking the focus away from what if I fail to how can I help? it becomes e...asier to calm the nerves and speak in front of others. ~ She also wanted to remind you that Public Speaking is the number one fear in the world, ahead of even dying. Basically, its not just you, its everyone that feels this way. Everyone in the audience is on your team and are super forgiving if you get flustered or skip a beat because they can put themselves in your shoes. See more

16.01.2022 2020 TRENDS | Each year we take a look at what trends to keep an eye on for Social Media, this year is no different. 1. TIKTOK | Weve ranted about TikTok a few times now, but as the fastest growing social media platform in Australia its certainly one to keep an eye on. Bringing fast, Vine-Like content get ready for the year of Quick Edits and Mass Production. 2. INFLUENCER MARKETING | Not a new one, but one that will continue to rise. Nano and Micro Influencers will be ...key this year to grow your audience base and cut through the noise of Paid Ads 3. AD PRICE HIKE | Were expecting to see higher prices for CPC and lower avg CTR for our Facebook and Instagram Ads which means Organic Content is more important than ever. 4. CHATBOTS | People are getting chatty and they want to chat with your brand, creating a chatbot can help cater to the personalised experience your followers are after. 5. AR and AI | Were looking at this from a big brand perspective, but expecting to see AR and AI become more accessible to smaller brands towards mid 2020 with features being easier to access via new DIY technologies. 15.01.2022 R U OK? This year has been a wild whirlwind of emotions in our lives, businesses and relationships. We believe in the value of reaching out and talking things through at anytime, but this year’s R U OK is an important one. If you have the space, ask your friends, family and co-workers how they’re going. You don’t need to have the answers or solve their problems, its about taking time to show that you care. #RUOK

13.01.2022 CONTENT TIP | In 2020 were calling out Authentic Content - we want to see more of it, and so do your followers! Spend less time worrying about how polished your posts look and get more real on relating to your audience. Tell them what youre up to, them them why youre doing why youre doing and then tell them why they should actually do it with you. Your audience is less concerned about the perfect flatlay and more concerned about your Why. So drop the extra hours of editing and get to what matters most to your audience - why youre awesome!

10.01.2022 HOT TIP | Do you post Instagram stories? Did you know that the second frame is the best place to include important info? This is because people are less likely to tap forward or back on the middle story. Tip 1: Add a call to action (e.g. learn more, book now, buy now) Tip 2: Place text in the middle of the screen Tip 3: Add a poll (or other engaging stickers e.g. question, hashtag, mention)

09.01.2022 Last night we unleashed our inner Picassos with the amazing @___merilyn at our own private rooftop bar (thank you @limeshotel) Over the year our little team has seen loads of changes both within our business and the wider industry of Social Media marketing. Weve worked on some awesome campaigns with some fantastic brands and met plenty of kick-ass creatives and professionals. Were not gonna tell you that this year has been a breeze, but we are gonna say were damn proud of the work weve done and the culture weve built. @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

08.01.2022 Here at Social Cut, we strive for amazing work. We want it to have impact and strike a chord with our followers. But when it comes to creating Organic Content for our feed, its important to note, we dont strive for Perfect. ~ A person scrolling through their feed will linger on your post for less than 3 seconds, unless theyre actively interested in your brand or product. ~ Now were not saying that you shouldnt aspire to produce incredible content thats engaging but what we are saying, is spend less time trying to make sure your copy and your image/video is perfect, and more time actually engaging with your audience.

07.01.2022 INST MYTHS | a couple of days ago we shared a pop quiz on whats real and whats not about how the IG algorithm works. We figured wed pop the Qs into a post here for you to do a little savey save of, so you can keep these facts handy. ~ 1. Instagram does not penalise you for using the same 30 Hashtags on each post. While its important to change them up so you get new eyes on your brand, you wont have your reach decreased if you dont. 2. Video and Images rank the same in... the newsfeed. If someone prefers video, itll rank higher. Likewise, if you prefer images, theyll show up first. 3. Stories dont change how your posts are ranked. The algorithm works separately for stories and feed. So if someone watches all your stories it means youll show up there first but it doesnt mean your posts will appear higher in their feed (and vice versa). 4. Editing a post wont reduce your reach. Weve previously heard that once its there leave it, but thats not the case. If theres a typo go ahead, edit it. 5. If you switch from a personal profile to a business was profile nothing happens. Apart from getting better insights and more functionality - theres absolutely no negative consequences (obvs unless you want to be on Private). ~ Any other weird Insta Myths youve heard that youd like us to confirm or deny (*ahem* Shadowbanning)? 06.01.2022 NEW PODCAST | We just dropped our latest Social Snippets podcast episode on the power of video in social with Dan Lee from Plum Property. 05.01.2022 In the world of small biz (and social media) the only certainty is change. ~ Change is a challenge, it is a shake up, it can be exhausting but it will always bring an opportunity for learning and growth. ~ This year were making a conscious effort to embrace the changes that come with working in a small business and the marketing industry. 04.01.2022 Instagram just turned 10 yeah, we know, we’re feeling old too! Love it or hate it, this social media platform has shaped the way we socialise, eat, spend (and make) money and engage with the world around us. We rounded up the good, the bad and the ugly about how the platform has changed and shaped our lives in the last 10 years over on our blog. Link in Bio (obvs )... But because we know we live in a world (shaped by the ’gram) where our attention span is shorter than the length of a match we’ll round up some of our highlights below. 1.Your Instagram profile has become your cv to the world... We catalogue our lives for work, for love, and for the likes. Instagram has made us vain, self conscious but also given us a space to share our own perception of the world inside 9 tiny tiles. 2.Changing the way we socialise and the places we socialise in! IG has given stores, restaurants, museums and holiday destinations a luxe make-over. If it’s not gram-able we don’t want to go! Heck, we literally pay people (influencers) to come and take a photo in our space/at our event just to encourage others to do the same. 3.Given and taken power away from cultural movements. There are two sides to every coin. Insta has given voice to important and powerful caused like #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter, it’s given people a place to organise, educate and mobilise movements. While this has been an incredible positive, there’s also draw backs with less users actually reading captions to understand where these movements originate from, and just jumping on the band wagon to be relevant, movements are losing steam (see #ChallengeAccepted) in our increasing click and forget culture.

04.01.2022 Its not easy being #Famous. Just ask @brdgt_m who moonlights as an extra when talent doesnt turn up for a shoot.
