23.01.2022 Join the next Student and Staff Protest Against the Cuts!!!

21.01.2022 Head to the UWA maths bloc to join the 2nd day of Socialism Conference Perth

18.01.2022 Curtin University is proceeding with $41M of cuts, despite being one of the best off universities in Australia. The following motion was passed unanimously by ...colleagues in the School of Education at its meeting on 23/11/20. "This meeting considers the ‘Change Proposal Humanities’, dated 16th November 2020, endorsed by Professor Michelle Wilson, Pro Vice-Chancellor Humanities, which was circulated to Humanities staff on 17th November 2020, and which initiated a consultation process, ending 1st December 2020, to be a vague and obtuse document. Its lack of meaningful detail prevents any possibility of genuine consultation. The meeting, therefore, calls on the Curtin University NTEU Branch to demand from the university: an extension to the consultation process, in relation to the ‘Change Proposal Humanities’; that the document, Change Proposal Humanities, dated 16th November 2020, be be-submitted to colleagues and that the re-submitted document should contain relevant and necessary detail and information; the dissemination of a re-drafted Change Proposal Humanities document that explicitly details each proposed change; and that this new document be clearly marked ‘revised proposal’, so that colleagues are able to respond to the correct document. "

13.01.2022 There is nothing to celebrate about so-called "Australia". Australian capitalism was established by brutal genocide. Up to a million Indigenous people lived here prior to colonisation. By 1930 there were just 50,000. Before invasion there were 290-360 Aboriginal languages. Now there are only 13 that, according to the National Indigenous Languages Survey, are not endangered. This genocide is not some historic episode. It is an ongoing policy, a political bias embedded deep in... the DNA of the political establishment. Read this excellent Red Flag article from last year and then get down to the Invasion Day march next week! Change The Date Invasion Day

12.01.2022 The US is again engulfed in protest against the racist injustice system. The grand jury in the Breonna Taylor case ruled that two white policemen who murdered h...er will not be prosecuted because their use of force in the raid that killed her, was justified. Black Lives Matter protesters have gone to the streets to express their rage. Join us at Perth Socialism's conference for a discussion of the political situation in the USA in the lead up to the elections with socialist activist and Latino historian Justin Ackers Chacon at midday on Sunday and then hear from Black Lives Matter activist Khury Petersen Smith for the final wrap up session at 4:30pm. If you haven't got your ticket yet, don't miss out at socialismperth.org. See more

12.01.2022 Abolish Australia Day! Join the Perth demo, Change The Date Invasion Day 1pm, Forest Chase

11.01.2022 This is big news and something to be outraged about. Curtin is planning to scrap in person lectures permanently and replace them with three 15-minute videos a w...eek by the end of next year. We're paying thousands of dollars for our degrees and some are set to go up in price. This is a huge attack on education quality that we need to fight! See more

11.01.2022 The anti-racist rebellion which exploded across the US in response to the horrific murder of George Floyd is historic. It’s encompassed demands against economic... inequality, state repression and underfunded social services, as well as justice for George Floyd. The protesters have withstood repression, utilising radical mass tactics, in some case reminiscent of the Hong Kong uprising. Socialism conference features debates that have arisen out of the movement - with sessions on the police abolition and debates on identity politics, reductionism and Marxism. We're incredibly lucky to hear from Black US socialist Khury Petersen-Smith on the closing panel - rebellion and revolution in the era of the pandemic, where he'll discussing the US uprising from his own experiences. We'll also draw from the radical history of Black resistance. A highlight of this will be hearing from Gary Foley, a key leader in the Aboriginal Tent Embassy of 1972 and longtime Aboriginal radical who will be speaking on Black Power in Australia.

11.01.2022 Hear from Angie Lara this Wednesday - Working class resistance in Trump's America

11.01.2022 Don't miss the next Student and Staff Protest Against the Cuts!

09.01.2022 NEW SESSION at Socialism Perth 2020 Conservatives in the US are moving to reverse Roe vs Wade and gut abortion rights. This new session at Socialism conference will look at the fight for abortion rights in the US and strategy is needed to best defend reproductive rights today.

09.01.2022 We had a great time at Socialism Conference Perth, thanks to all the radicals - new and old - who came along and joined the discussions.

08.01.2022 The hope of resisting inequality in the US was nowhere near yesterday's debate stage. It's in the US working class resisting in their workplaces and on the streets. This meeting next Wednesday will hear from unionists and working class radicals resisting in the US against exploitation and oppression in the era of COVID.

08.01.2022 Just 5 days until Socialism Perth 2020 ! Tickets still available @ socialismperth.org/tickets

08.01.2022 Solidarity with striking workers!

07.01.2022 These statues celebrating genocidal colonisers is just one reason why it's important to join the Invasion day protest tomorrow. James Stirling and John Septimus... Roe massacred up to 80 Aboriginal people in the Pinjarra Massacre (led by Stirling himself) on October 28, 1834. Alexander Forest oversaw the brutal and murderous policing of Indigenous people in the Kimberley, and advocated for state terrorism against them. The establishment of Australian capitalism is soaked in blood, and these statues need to be torn down along with the racist system that continues to this day. Join tomorrow's Invasion Day rally: 1pm, Forrest Place Change The Date Invasion Day

03.01.2022 In 2020 we've seen struggle break out around the world: from record breaking protests in Poland fighting for the right of women to access abortion, to the Black... Lives Matter movement that raged across the United States earlier this year. Red Flag is always on the side of people resisting. We feature interviews with and articles by people on the front lines of struggle. This year we've featured interviews with activists in Belarus organising against their dictatorial government, dispatches from the rebellion in Hong Kong, and analysis of the pro-democracy movement in Thailand, just to name a few. ‘It will never be the same again’: the movement against dictatorship in Belarus https://redflag.org.au/node/7323 Understanding Hong Kong’s rebellion against China https://redflag.org.au/node/7202 Mass defiance shakes the Thai regime https://redflag.org.au/node/7427 Subscribe to Red Flag to hear from people around the world organising against injustice. https://subscribe.redflag.org.au/

01.01.2022 The world's superpower is in a historic crisis. Over 200,000 people have died from COVID-19. There's dramatic levels of economic crisis and unemployment. The fa...r-right organising violently on the streets is being promoted by the President. At Socialism conference, we'll be discussing crisis and resistance in the US across multiple sessions. Some highlights are: *** hear about the incredible Black Lives Matter rebellions with Black US socialist Khury Petersen-Smith on the closing panel on rebellion and revolution in the era of the pandemic *** discuss the upcoming US elections with US author and migrant rights activist Justin Akers Chacon *** join veteran activist and socialist Joel Geier to hear the lessons of the last great US rebellion in the 1960s
