19.01.2022 Tonight we're co-hosting a talk by Aran Mylvaganam, an incredible socialist and long-term fighter for refugee rights through his work at the Tamil Refugee Council. He's one of the best speakers and activists around today, so don't miss this important meeting on The refugee crisis and the case for socialism. 6:30 at Lincoln Square

12.01.2022 Things are getting busy in Melbourne now that the holiday period is over! Here's the plan for this week - lots of opportunities to get involved in socialist organising, whether its by coming to our Marxism discussion groups on Monday and Wednesday to chat politics, our public meeting with incredible Tamil refugee activist Aran Mylvaganam on Tuesday evening (The refugee crisis and the case for socialism), or Friday's protest against the imprisonment of refugees in the Park Hotel in Carlton (Freedom Fridays #3 - Free the Park Hotel Refugees!) See you there!

11.01.2022 We're here at the park hotel refugee prison tonight where some of the men inside have received the news that they will receive a bridging visa. We are here to celebrate this important victory and demand more. Every refugee imprisoned by Australia's disgusting border regime should receive their freedom and be released into the community and never have to face the possibility to deportation which is not guaranteed under a bridging visa. The snap action tonight was called by the campaign against racism and fascism. Come along to the weekly protest this Friday and the united rally on Jan 30 to continue the fight for justice for all refugees. https://fb.me/e/IYXxRFye https://fb.me/e/mqHjLTshM

10.01.2022 After 8 years of resistance 26 refugees have been freed. This is an amazing partial victory for the refugee movement but there’s still so much to fight for full citizenship, freeing all the refugees and destroying the mandatory detention regime completely!

05.01.2022 The far right protesters who managed to enter the Capitol Building in support of Trump’s pathetic attempts to overturn the election result have thrown up a numb...er of important questions for the left. What do these events represent when it comes to the strengths and weaknesses of the far right in the US? What will they mean for the incoming Biden establishment, which is overwhelmingly supported by the US ruling class and in no way represents genuine democracy. What strategies should anti-fascists look to in order to push back against the confidence of the far right? At Marxism 2021 we will be discussing these crucial questions and more with sessions on the far right, US empire and lessons from the Black Lives Matter movement.
