Working from home during lockdown has really got me good and balancing mum life I’ve had to navigate my business whilst working from home with my 3 yr old son Noah who is now home with me full time during #melbournelockdown While I’m unbelievably grateful I still have my business running during this period, it sure has been a learning curve for me! Working at ridiculous times at night to meet deadlines and recording online classes! You’re not alone, just remember that, there is so many in the Hair & Beauty Industry struggling to find staff for their business, and perhaps it’s because your ads aren’t reaching the right candidate! Are you just posting your ad on your own social media platform in the hope someone will just see it !?... Maybe you haven’t planned out your campaign, and just posted, and hoped for the best ? I think this is where so many aren’t maximise their opportunities on Social Media because of the following reasons Your ideal candidate probably isn’t following you on Instagram and has no idea who you are Your following isn’t industry based, so your social network and reach within the industry is super low You haven’t promoted your post and put some $$$ behind your ad to target your ideal staff member You haven’t used Industry based hashtags to show up and further your reach Maybe your Ad just didn’t stand out and you haven’t used apps like @canva or @mojo.video to create a stand out ad that is scroll stopping On my stories in the past week, I asked my followers what makes them attracted to a job ad and the majority said when your ad shows who you are and they can get a vibe of you and your salon Also sharing wage, incentives on offer and education Just sharing a now hiring post isn’t enough, we need to be adding so much more into it, to attract people to our business - such as video content that people can really get a vibe of who you are Start sharing posts of the awesome stuff your salon does apart from services, share awesome opportunities you offer your staff, and this will make people want to work at your salon! Fill up your feed and show up on your stories to humanise and add personality of you and your team! Perhaps your ideal staff member has left their work place because they didn’t vibe with their colleagues and your team looks like their dream team! 14.01.2022 SOCIAL SALON SCHOOL MEMBERSHIP CLASS TIME UPDATE! Members of @socialsalonschool and those who are not, as you may have seen on the news, Melbourne has gone back into lockdown for 6 weeks - and to be honest this makes me nervous for my family and also my little boy!... As I know a lot of you are parents, I’m sure you can understand my anxiety at this current time. This has made me take my 3 year old out of childcare - and home with me for the next 6 weeks while we ride this wave of craziness! For the next 6 weeks, I will be changing the Live Class time to Monday 7:30pm AEST That way. I can be home with my little boy, keeping my family safe from Covid 19 and we can lockdown in the comfort of our home. The time may change back to 10am Monday after these 6 weeks AND I have decided that classes will now be valid for 30 days from the Live Recording Date. I often see so many mistakes being made when hair and beauty professionals create an Instagram Bio.... A lot of the time it’s missing some key points that can make your chance of showing up more visible NAME - this is different to your username The words here should be used to describe your business type and also adding in your location can help you show up to customers Think they’re searching Blonde Specialist in their location they may type into Instagram Melbourne Blonde Specialist If these words are in your name - you’re showing up to your ideal customer Think of this like a Google search but on Instagram YOUR BIO This is your online business card. This should have what you would have on a physical business card but think of this as your digital. Think of it like this; the easiest way I can break it down for non tech savvy friends... Imagine reading a magazine about products and being able to tap a product and it takes you straight to options to shop and buy Imagine reading a blog via Instagram to find out about business and having direct links to their posts to go straight to their Instagram Feed - this could be a review of a business via an Instagram Guide Think of posts you have created and being able to curate them all into one folder and create a collect for just this topic - so for me this could be all my posts on Hashtag tips and for you could be all your posts you have create on Hair Styling or Skincare Think of creating a guide on a physical place you have been! You can use posts from Location Tags to write about a place / location you have been! Is your head exploding with excitement? 12.01.2022 Melbourne Hair Friends, my goodness what a day for us and also how lucky we have been to keep Hair Salons open up until now. Emotions are running high, some are relieved they can close, some are full of fear but we have to stick together for the sake of our future, community and most importantly the health of ourselves! I have felt all the feels today and honestly tonight my heart broke with all the messages of fear from some and confusion from others... I think the universe could feel my emotions, technology failed me tonight when I went to go live in my membership - I couldn’t share my slides I’ve been working on the past 2 days but you know what. The universe has other plans and it’s ok, it’s worked out. I’ve rescheduled my class from tonight to Thursday afternoon, this will keep my Melbourne Members busy with something to do!
