24.01.2022 Clean dry air is absolutely necessary for blasting and painting. You will get better economy of blast media with hassle free flow (depending on your blast syste...m) and for painting a much better finish. Some compressors have a drier system and most don't. With an air aftercooler it will bring the air temp down to 9'above ambient temperature which then allows the separator to remove the moisture. In very humid climates you can add extra filters to achieve an even better quality. After Coolers can be supplied with 3phase, single phase or pneumatic fans and with the smaller units, 12volt is available. This is when you will notice moisture in your compressed air supply, which of cause is going to create problems whether you are bl...asting, painting or using pneumatic tools. We overcome this by using an air aftercooler which cools the compressed air down to allow the separator to remove moisture. We can also add additional filters to further clean the air. 08.01.2022 The Silly Season Getting the calls of woe after people receiving a soda Blaster for xmas and wondering what the hell is going on. This is a painful bit of dialogue that I have been repeating for over 20 years to these callers, worse for some as they forked out the money. So once again I will offer these words of wisdom that will save you your hard-earned dollars. 1/ Blasting requires good clean dry air in sufficient volume (CFM) and pressure to maintain a constant pressure ...for your chosen nozzle size. 2/ As we are referring more to soda blasting, the above is more so important as soda relies on velocity to remove harder finishes etc. 3/ Lets start at the compressor, a single phase (240v) compressor is useless for blasting. The ideal compressor is a rotary screw as it will maintain constant air providing the nozzle size is correct. Piston type compressors will drop air pressure rapidly when blasting until they kick in again, this affects the economy of media usage and performance. 4/ There are factors to consider when setting up a blast unit. Know what your compressor output is (cfm), have the correct sized air supply line to the pot. The blast hose size plays a part as well, but the most important part is the blast nozzle size, if it is too large for the compressor than pressure drop will ruin the performance level you require. 5/ The pot is the major component next to the compressor in the blasting process, If you are looking for a home blaster that gives results then my advice is take your job to a contractor. You can spend $400 - $2000 on a blaster and then spend money on blast media and end up with a big mess with no production. There is a reason contractors charge what they do, and it is due to the investment in their equipment. 05.01.2022 Since the focus recently has been on the stonemason industry regarding reports of silicosis ,we have received inquiry on our DFU (dust free units). This has mainly been for memorial work whereby engraving for headstones. When silica is released during blasting 2 micron size particle will only drop 1mt in 24hrs in windless conditions. So you can see how it hangs around and how dangerous it is. This is where the DFU system captures all the dust and silica and is collected for safe disposal.
