19.01.2022 Oral Hygiene packs are available at So Dental in Chatswood. How to brush your teeth? 1. Tilt the brush at a 45 angle against the gumline and sweep or roll the brush away from the gumline. 2. Gently brush the outside, inside and chewing surface of each tooth using short back-and-forth strokes. 3. Gently brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen breath... How to floss your teeth? 1. Starting with about 18 inches of floss, wind most of the floss around each middle finger, leaving an inch or two of floss to work with. 2. Holding the floss tautly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and-down between your teeth. 3. Gently curve the floss around the base of each tooth, making sure you go beneath the gumline. Never snap or force the floss, as this may cut or bruise delicate gum tissue. 4. Use clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth. 5. To remove the floss, use the same back-and-forth motion to bring the floss up and away from the teeth. #oralhygiene #toothbrush #toothfloss #preventivedentistry #dentistChatswood #sodental
16.01.2022 Happy Halloween Everyone! Halloween Candy Tips We all know that for most children, Halloween means candy and lots of it! But that doesn't mean that you need to give up on your child's oral health for the nightand neither should he or she! ... The Bad 5 Candies 1. Sticky candies: dried fruit snacks, taffy all get stuck in teeth easily. That includes chocolates with caramel or other sticky fillings. The general rule is the stickier the candy, the worse it is for your teeth. 2. Chewy candy: such as caramel, gummies are particularly damaging because they are high in sugar, spend a prolonged amount of time stuck to teeth, and are more difficult for saliva to break down. 3. Sour candies: These candies have high acid levels that can break down tooth enamel. 4. Candy corn: This is laden with sugar that produces acid that eats away at teeth. 5. Hard candy: such as lollipops or mints are tough on teeth because it tends to be sucked on at a leisurely pace for an extended period of time. Plus, chomping down on hard candy can chip or break teeth. The The Top 5 Tooth-Friendly Candies 1. Sugar-free gum: Chewing sugar-free gum after meals and snacks can stimulate salivary flow, help rinse off and neutralize the acids released by the bacteria in plaque, which are harmful to tooth enamel. 2. Sugar-free Lollipops: Sugar-free lollipops also stimulate saliva production, which flushes away bacteria from teeth, tongue and gums. 3. Chocolate: Chocolate melts quickly and doesn't generally stick to teeth; however, avoid chocolates with caramel or sticky fillings, which can be harmful to teeth. As an added bonus, the calcium in chocolate may be beneficial, and dark chocolate in particular has antioxidants that can be good for the heart. 4. Peanut Butter Cups: These treats are similar to chocolate in that they disappear fast. 5. Powdery candy: The texture of powdery candy allows it to dissolve quickly, so that it doesn't stay on teeth and produce acids and bacteria that can cause cavities. General advise for parents: 1. Limit the number of times a day your child eats sugary treats or snacks between meals. Serve snacks that will not harm your child’s teeth, such as vegetables, cheese, nuts or seeds. 2. It is best to eat sugary treats at the end of mealtime while there is still plenty of saliva in the mouth. Saliva helps to wash away the sugars and acids. 3. Drinking a glass of water after eating a sugary treat will also help wash away some of the sugars and acids. 4. Avoid soft, sticky treats that get stuck between teeth. 5. Always have your child brush and floss before going to bed. #halloween #halloweenDentist
16.01.2022 What kind of tooth brush is best for your teeth? What Type of Toothbrush Should I Use? a soft-bristled brush is best for removing plaque and debris from your teeth. Small-headed brushes are also preferable, since they can better reach all areas of the mouth, including hard-to-reach back teeth. For many, a powered toothbrush is a good alternative. It can do a better job of cleaning teeth, particularly for those who have difficulty brushing or who have limited manual dexteri...ty. 09.01.2022 #DentalReview at SO Dental of a #samedaybridge after 4 years. The patient has been eating normally without any issues after the treatment 4 years ago. She had a tilted molar and wasn't able to eat on the left side for many years. The condition was deteriorating due to painful food-packing on both gaps with adjacent teeth. This was a challenging case as the space was too small for an implant & too large for a single crown. However we could offer a simple & pain-free solution.... Treatment: by our laser scanner and CAD/CAM system which restored the function, aesthetics, gum health in one day. The tooth preparation was minimal with all the margins resting on enamel and above the gum lines. Meticulous attention was placed to details especially the interproximal areas, embrasures cleansing and margins to achieve a perfect ceramic restoration. Result: A happy patient has her pain resolved and function restored for many years to come. The bridge is easily kept clean by flossing or interdental brush. #Primescan #SamedayCrown #cerec #bestdentist #bestdentalChatswood #sodental #toothache

04.01.2022 The Tooth Fairy time table (Tooth Eruption chart): When children lose one of their baby teeth, they should place it underneath their pillow and the Tooth Fairy will visit while they sleep, replacing the lost tooth with a fun gift or small payment. Children begin to lose their teeth around the age of five or six. Before this happens, parents will want to encourage their oral care routine. Teach your children that the tooth fairy looks for clean, shiny teeth. Your child will want to brush every day in anticipation of the gift the tooth fairy brings.
