16.01.2022 Softball Australia would like to recognise the impact that Cathy Kerr OAM has had on the sport of softball not only for Softball NSW but the game of softball in Australia. Starting off as an elite player, Cathy was player number 125 for the Australian Open Women's team from 1984-1989 playing 35 games for her country. From there she then moved into administration with NSW in a career spanning over 30 years, starting as their Administration Officer. The impact of Cathy's work o...n the development of softball is immeasurable. Her passion, dedication, hard work and love for the game and the athletes as well as her commitment to preserving the games' traditions and history is second to none. Her legacy will continue for many years to come, with many players and coaches benefitting through Cathy's initiatives such as the International Friendship Series and the Under 23 National championships. Cathy's work on the National Events Committee, on national and international events at Blacktown International Sportspark Sydney over many years raised the standard of event administration in Australia. Cathy is also a hard working member of the Softball Australia Member Recognition Committee. Her recognition to the sport of softball resulted in Cathy being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2018, after receiving an Australian Sports Medal in 2000. We are forever grateful for the commitment Cathy has given to the game from the grassroots to the elite. Thank you Cathy. 07.01.2022 Softball Australia is deeply saddened by the passing of Ken Arthur overnight. As an Assistant Coach of the Travelodge Aussie Spirit at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, Ken was masterful and was considered one of our best technicians. He guided some of Australia’s best pitchers including Melanie Roche and Brooke Wilkins to be amongst the best in the world. His knowledge and impact was also far reaching, with many of Australia’s best young pitchers being under his guidance over... many years. Thank you Ken for what you have done for our game. Our thoughts and deep condolences, alongside the rest of the softball community, are with his family at this time. Rest In Peace Kenny.
