25.01.2022 Dear Families, Each year, SoGS bands together to support St Vincent de Paul in our annual 'Vinnies Christmas Appeal'. There is no greater time than this year to come together for those in our local community that will need support to ensure a happy Christmas for all. This will begin this week, Monday 16th November and concludes on Friday 11th December. As a school community, we aim to collect non- perishable food items as well as Christmas items (puddings, bon bons, christma...s napkins, candy canes etc). Keeping inline with COVID safe practices (which encourage parents not to leave their car unnecessarily), we invite the students to bring any donations into school. Once dropped off at Kiss & Drop, students can hand sanitise and make their way to the front office to drop the items off into a tub. These items will then be packaged into beautiful hampers by our staff. We thank you for supporting this beautiful initiative which brings the essence of Advent to life - a time for prayer, love, peace, family and almsgiving.

21.01.2022 Today, two members of our school community received a special award - The Josh Bull MP Excellence Award. Josh Bull is a local member of parliament. He created two awards to recognise one outstanding student and one outstanding teacher during the difficult remote learning period. Schools put forth their nominations and our Nelly F in Grade 3 and Michelle Peel Year Prep teacher were winners. Below are the reasons why: Nelly F -... Nelly personifies our four school values LOVE, HOPE FAITH and COURAGE. Her choices this year consistently reflected these values. She maintains a positive disposition drawn from the good choices she makes on a daily basis. Through her own struggles, she was always kind, caring and patient as she supported students and teachers on the days when she was on site during the remote learning period. Nelly is an only child and found the isolation of remote learning a struggle. She did not allow it to get her down, instead she found comfort in bringing joy to others, by being a wonderful friend and a kind companion. She acknowledges how hard her parents work and is truly grateful for all she receives in life. We congratulate Nelly on this Award for Excellence. Michelle Peel - Michelle is in her third year of teaching at School of the Good Shepherd. In her time here she has made an invaluable impact in the way she influenced others though her words and actions. She has become a self driven, inspiring, community minded staff member. She always puts her students and their families well being first. During the remote learning period Michelle was faced with many obstacles. Building a home she was forced to move to a town far from her place of work and family and friends. She shared a home with another family and navigated the challenges of remote learning, and supporting her own children and those in the family home she was sharing. Michelle has a child with a physical condition that requires monitoring and supervision. She also has a daughter in VCE. Michelle experienced a significant physical injury in the early weeks of remote learning and then an ongoing illness of her own. She managed this without missing a beat and was there for her prep class each and every day with a smile. In addition to all of this, Michelle pioneered ways to transition new preps coming in to School of the Good shepherd in 2021. She created a Bitmoji virtual classroom and took it upon herself to study and become a Seesaw Ambassador, ensuring her expertise added to the delivery of quality programs at our school. This new learning, enabled her to inspire our staff to get School Blogging off the ground to further connect with our community. Michelle is a much loved teacher in our community. We congratulate Michelle on this Award for Excellence.
17.01.2022 Last Thursday, our school participated in Australia’s largest music based school initiative, where more than half a million students sing the same song, on the same day, at the same time. The annual Program Song was written by four students around Australia in collaboration with the Music Count Us In's Ambassador John Foreman. This years song was titled ‘You Won’t Bring Us Down‘. Students at SoGS learned the Auslan actions to a verse or chorus and performed as a part of Celebration Day. Check out how well they did...
