23.01.2022 Overwhelmed by the response to our rose delivery in Ballarat today, all gone in 8 minutes. What an incredible community we have. Thank you for everyone who #sharedthecare today xx
23.01.2022 While it’s Spring snowing outside this afternoon I am getting into the office to get ready for the coming warmer weather. Sharing some thoughts I have had over this winter break, it is long if you have time to read. I am slowly feeling more and more excited about the coming season. A few months ago I couldn’t imagine having to go back into a season with the unknowns we are facing right now but with this extended time to slow down I have really considered the how and the why o...f our business. There is so much said about how hard flower farming is and it is true it is very labour intensive and being at the mercy of weather is tough but I truly believe that if you love what you do then nothing is hard. Last season there are aspects I found really challenging - the working Mum life (I’m not the only one here!) running a business that you physically and emotionally work in from 6am - 6pm, sometimes 10pm daily (with afternoon sporting commitments and 3 kids in tow), financial pressures and staffing; but still never too hard. This season I really hope to be able to make real changes, for those things to fit more realistically into our business and life. I REALLY love growing flowers, playing a part in the magic that creates the fleeting beauty, it truly is so special. I love being out in the field early in the morning and the pride I feel of my kids seeing their Mum work towards a goal! I hold the ladies who obsess over flowers with me deep in my heart. All this is so wonderful and fills my cup with the why but it does always come back to the fact we are also a business, I need to make money, pay staff and support our family. I really hope to educate more people this season in how to achieve the best they can from their garden roses and seasonal flowers. It takes a lot to produce a field grown seasonal product and often that is reflected in the price. Please support your local farms and understand their pricing comes with supporting local people and families, educate your customers and talk more about creating more natural beauty in the flower world. Feeling so hopeful about the changes to come... See more
22.01.2022 It’s been a big start to our season! We have been working on some really fun things and trying really hard to not let our paddocks get totally out of control now the sun is here to stay. I didn’t get a chance in the madness to post this incredible beauty, from a few weeks ago with @ceciliafox for #urbanblooms. It was a really special one for us. I planted the pale pink Cecile Brunner specifically for @ceciliafox and it brought me so much joy seeing it having it’s moment in the short window it flowers in. And...this heritage Spinosissima absolutely stealing the show too.... Beautiful images were taken by @feldflowers

19.01.2022 Forever indebted to my dear friend @lindseymyra for convincing me to grow the dahlias!
19.01.2022 Feeling like I needed to put some words out about where our farm is ‘at’ right now with flowers, the coronavirus, the weather and the very strange lead up to Mothers Day this year. Thank you so much to all the beautiful souls who have messaged me to check in and see how things are going Like everyone else we have been working really hard to weather the huge loss of business as best as possible while seeing out our growing season but having to say goodbye to all of our staff... and our nanny has brought new challenges. I’m really proud that we have kept a few of our florists going by supplying as many flowers as I can pick and process myself, while juggling kids and timeframes but homeschooling and a husband away harvesting for days (he doesn’t work on the flowers but he is very good at being a Dad ) on end has meant that I just haven’t been able to spend the time I usually would have been able to in the paddocks. Now it seems that Mother Nature is set on reminding us all that she is always the one in control! The recent early cold snap seems it will finish our season off early and more than likely the week before Mother’s Day This season has been really challenging with unusual weather, nightmare thrips and limited staff, it has also been incredibly rewarding too. I have learnt so much about myself and my business and fostered some incredible relationships that make me so excited for the future of Soho. For now... I am going to spend some time with my kids, (because whoever said flower farmers get to do that was lying ) cook some yummy food and tend to all my baby seedlings that we have planned to be blooming next Spring / Summer and get ready for our winter prune ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who follows along and supports our farm! I would have loved to share more of our growing practices in recent times but it just hasn’t been possible. We definitely still plan to when things become more manageable! See more
18.01.2022 A little story on our roses going out into the world today!
17.01.2022 This flyer is being distributed to Melbourne suburbs. They basically say if you like renewable energy, sign here to show your support... It appears to be a s...lick piece of propaganda, aimed at astroturfing, where they harvest the signatures of uninvolved and uninformed people, without any context about wider issues, in order to look like they have grassroots support for the project. They’ll be doing this in order to crush the petition opposing it. It’s quite unethical, and would be well worth a complaint to the ACCC for deceptive and misleading conduct... It should also be noted that they will have people watching and listening here, and to those people I say this is a low tactic. See more

13.01.2022 https://www.9news.com.au//f2ab1120-dde9-4765-a9c6-6024d274 Finally found some time to sit down and read through all the wonderful messages I have received over the past few days in regards to our rose giveaway on Wednesday. Reading some of the messages of hardship has been difficult but the generosity and love out there in our local community is so overwhelming. I am so thankful that so many well deserving people in our community were able to be gifted our roses! I am real...ly sorry to anyone that missed out. I never imagined that they would be taken so quickly! While flowers bring a moment of happiness, it is the gratitude and love from the gesture that makes gifting them all so special. If you can, please keep gifting your loved ones, healthcare workers and vulnerable community members flowers in this difficult time. You not only pass on the joy in the gesture but you also support so many businesses within the flower world, from the florist to the grower and everyone in between! I also never imagined that we would receive the amount of press that we did, (how naive?!) below is a little story by 9News. Thank you again to all of the supportive and kind messages. We are just so thankful to all the healthcare workers and services working on our 'frontline'. Keep safe xx See more
08.01.2022 A little rain while picking this morning
08.01.2022 Absolutely blown away by the Ballarat community today! We had such an overwhelming response with all 100 bouquets taken in 8 minutes! So many beautiful and heartbreaking stories, people so thankful to be able to pass on a small token of care to a vulnerable person in our community, the elderly, disabled, those suffering extreme hardship and of course our healthcare workers. There were nurses who came to take a bunch for themselves, and I’m so pleased they did. I have cried re...ading so many messages of thanks today and it is truly heartwarming to know that from my loss of business I have been able to turn a tiny part of that it’s something big and special. Thank you! Thank you so much to the wonderful @gorgicoghlan for bringing this together and being such a positive force this morning. Many many thanks to @lbwr for bringing the share card to life. Such wonderful acts of kindness and so proud to be involved. Keep sharing the care in your community! #sharethecare See more
