23.01.2022 December Update - POTATOES Applied Horticultural Research (AHR) and RMCG are setting up an irrigation monitoring site in a centre pivot irrigated potato paddock near Cowra. Wildeye soil moisture monitors will continuously monitor two depths (15 cm + 30 cm), and the SWICP2 team will develop a water budget to forecast irrigation requirements for the week ahead. ... IrriSAT app will also be used for crop growth rates calculation, crop water use forecasts, along with NDVI images showing field variability. Growers will be able to follow the progress and watch the team monitor the irrigation over the internet on Soil Wealth social media.

16.01.2022 Wildeye moisture monitor in the NW area of pivot indicating soil moisture dying down at all depths; good rains forecast, but makes it tricky!

15.01.2022 This summer we are over at Bathurst looking at cover crops-stripped tillage and pumpkins. The cover crops were just rolled and stripped tilled ready for sowing of the pumpkin crop after the weekend rain (fingers crossed). 05.01.2022 COVER CROP + ROLLED GROUND COVER + STRIP TILL = RECORD FARM CUCUMBER YIELD. Check out the outstanding yield results. More info here https://www.soilwealth.com.au//cover-crop-rolled-ground-c/

03.01.2022 Soil moisture monitoring. Anytime you have different plant densities and/or different plant health status across a paddock the ground cover, crop water use, rooting depth all vary and technically requires Variable Rate Irrigation to properly irrigate the paddock. "Good" and "Bad" area photos have received the EXACT same irrigations.

03.01.2022 Take a look at the strip till and cover crop activities at the Sydney Soil Wealth site. Great working from Val and Sam Micallef. http://bit.ly/33ztLh0
