24.01.2022 The response to coronavirus is ongoing and currently there is no clear date or timeframe for an end. The State committee in association with clubs and Special Olympics Australia will monitor the situation on an going basis and provide further advise when it comes to hand. To date we have been advised to cease all club weekly activities until further notice for the reminder of the month. ... This means Ipswich Lockyer Valley Special Olympics will cease all weekly club activities including swimming, soccer , dancing and golf for the next 30 days or until further notice. 23.01.2022 We know how disappointed everyone has been, that our season of 2020 has been completely turned upside down because of COVID -19. We know that a lot of people have been feeling lost and a little anxious without having their regular sports to attend and we understand how frustrating this has been for you. ... Thank you, for staying safe and please rest assured that youre committee are working hard behind the scenes to make sure that return to sport is safe for everyone. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the return to soccer (training only ) will happen on Monday 20th July at the start time of 4.45 for the Junior group and 5.30 for the Older group. Please note that these two groups will not be able to mix due to numbers allowed. Dance will return back on Wednesday 22nd July at the start time of 4.30pm. I will be sending out further information in an email, please look out for this. If you do not receive it, please contact me or Kristy Skipper.

15.01.2022 The situation with coronavirus (COVID-19) is changing rapidly. We are doing all we can to protect our athletes, volunteers, coachers and our special olympics community. We have received this information from State office: Special Olympics strongly advise all regions and programs to remain closed up and until through to the 31st May 2020 at which point we will reassess the situation and provide updated guidance.

15.01.2022 Firstly, I hope you're safe and healthy. These unprecedented times have been challenging for everyone, but we are hopeful that the end of these COVID-19 restrictions is within sight. We are very keen to return to training, competition and the gifts, skills and friendships associated with our Special Olympics community,... This week the Federal Government began talking about how we can do this.. Our General Manager in Sport Development, Terry Visscher and the Special Olympics Sport team are currently working on the plan to return us to sport as safely as possible. The plan will include important input from Sport Australia, National Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Organisations and members of Special Olympics State Leadership teams. I will keep everyone as up to date as i can and if you have any questions, please contact me I will be only to happy to answer your questions as best as I can.

15.01.2022 Hi Everyone!! I hope you are all keeping busy and staying safe!! The year is almost done, can you believe it’s November?? Usually by now we would be planning Christmas break ups and closing down sports for the year.. but 2020 had other plans!! ... We are looking forward to a fresh start in 2021!! Memberships are now due, remember these will need to be paid before training and competition start for 2021. We will have an AGM probably early in the year, so if you have ever thought about becoming a volunteer please come along, many hands make light work, and we would love to have you on the team! 15.01.2022 Special Olympics Australia have consulted with varied leaders in relation to Covid-19 . The landscape in what we once knew has now changed and we are making sure that together firstly that our community stay safe and well. The management in sport and re-introduction are working hard to together to re-commence sporting activities. ... To date SOCCER training will commence back on Monday 20th July 2020. Consultation with QLD Education has noted that the hire of any school premises remain closed to third parties including community organisations at this time. Dance, swimming and basketball will not be resuming at this time. If you would like your child or athlete to participate in soccer to remain active within the community they are more then welcome to come along. If you have any questions to any of the above information, please feel free to contact me.

We know how disappointing this is however, the safety and well being of everyone is our first concern and we send our amazing dance teachers all our love and support. 05.01.2022 Dear Members and friends of Special Olympics Ipswich Lockyer Valley, As you are all aware, we are amid a second wave of COVID-19 within the Ipswich and surrounding areas. Just as we began our return to sport campaign, we have been confronted with an increasing cluster which is having a direct impact on our community and poses a great risk to our athletes and volunteers. Given the increasing numbers of coronavirus (COVID-19) locations and the heightened risk of transmission, t...he Ipswich Lockyer Valley Club Committee, the support of special Olympics Queensland and central office , have decided to cease all training with immediate effect for the remainder of the year. It is a difficult decision to make but your health and safety is paramount and therefore we want to ensure that we can do everything in our power to protect our community and reduce the spread of the virus. We wish you all the best for the remainder of 2020, please stay safe.

02.01.2022 2019 Was an amazing year for Ipswich Locker Valley Olympics Special and the committee could not be more proud of what our club has achieved. 2019 saw Sharni set her swimming goal of going to competition and competing and smashing her goal out of the water, Congratulations Sharni. We can not wait to watch you develop your swimming skills further over 2020 and see you off to Tasmania Jr Nationals to compete and come home with GOLD for Queensland. Isabelle will also be joining Sharni this year in Tasmania for Jr Nationals and representing Queensland, Congratulations Isabelle on being selected, what a fantastic year for both of you.

01.01.2022 Ipswich Special Olympics together with All Abilties Australia are excited to start our dance today. Our dance program is designed to suite everyone with the aim... to physically , socially and spiritually engage with anyone who loves to dance, have fun and meet new friends. The aim this year is to have our students attend two dance competitions which we are very excited about. Please note for students whom are returning , we have a new starting time . Wednesday : 4:00pm - 4:45pm for ages 8 years - 12 years 4:45pm - 5:30pm is for ages 12 years and over All classes are $15.00 p/c with each student/family being billed per term. If you have a FairPlay voucher you may use it towards the cost of the classes.
