23.01.2022 Adrenal Fatigue. How it affects your skin! This is something that I live with daily. It’s a very common condition and I feel a lot of the time it goes unnoticed, especially in women! ... The adrenal glands are two small glands that sit on top of the kidneys and are essential to your overall health and wellbeing. Their main role is the production and regulation of a number of hormones, primarily cortisol - your stress hormone. When you operate in a constant state of stress however, the adrenals can become overworked and exhausted, leading to adrenal fatigue. So how does this affect your skin? An influx of cortisol causes an increase in oil/sebum production which can lead to CONGESTION and ACNE, as well as becoming less effective at absorbing key nutrients from your food due to the lack of oxygen flowing into your cells. You can also expect to see DRY, DULL skin. Aside from cortisol, another key hormone produced by the adrenal glands is aldosterone - responsible for maintaining the body’s hydration levels. What to do? Well unfortunately we live in a fast-paced modern lifestyle, but there are ways we can manage stress. Thing is - we all know what kinds of things we should be doing to manage it. The hard part is implementing it into our lifestyles. First step - check in with your DIET! It’s important to maintain a balanced diet rich in nutrient-dense wholefoods. There major key nutrients I have learned to implement into my diet have been: Protein Essential Fatty Acids Fibre I read an amazing book called ‘The Mood Cure’ by Julia Ross which explains in detail what happens in the brain and how our hormones are affected when experiencing adrenal fatigue. 23.01.2022 REOPENING DATE 11th November This corona-coaster has got me feeling so dizzy! After the announcements this week I frantically searched for information regarding being able to open my business at home. ... Unfortunately as my workspace is within my residence I am still unable to start treating all of your beautiful faces! I’ve had time to gather my thoughts and decided to keep my fingers, toes and heart crossed that by the 11th of November, home businesses will be able to resume operating and that masks can be removed for facial treatments! Most of you know that I also have a casual job working at Tully’s Cafe, so my treating hours will be: Wednesdays 9am - 9pm & Saturday 9am - 5pm Until things starts to become more full time. Today from 10am I will open my calendar and online bookings will be available ! We, as Victorians, have truly shown immense grit, resilience and patience. HOWEVER. Every skin clinic in the state is devastated. As an industry highly regulated and educated in infection control both pre and post covid, we are absolutely flabbergasted that we are unable to operate - considering treating the face for most of us make up 90 - 95% of our ser...vices. We don’t have a date. Even 0.2 average cases in regional Victoria are not enough for us to be opened. You can visit a pub without a mask. You can visit a restaurant without a mask. You can hire an escort or get a sensual massage without a mask. But NO. You cannot get a treatment for your acne?? A dentist can work on a patients mouth by using a double barrier (operator wearing a mask and a shield) Home Care workers can attended personal care by wearing a mask and a shield. Injectors can perform injectables on the lips with the mask. COVID testers safely test 1000s of Victorians without a single transmission by wearing a mask and a shield. And yet you cannot have a skin treatment on the face. We can create a safe environment for clients by wearing 2 layers of protection so that our clients don’t have to. We are NOT Beauty Parlours. Premier, we demand you reopen our industry immediately to full capacity and with very comprehensive Covid safe plans and education. 19.01.2022 This is my BEFORE & AFTER using @dermaviduals ! The before photo was taken on what I called a ‘Good Skin Day’ back then! How crazy is that! 5 years later - I still use Dermaviduals and I have never even considered needing to change brands. This is what bespoke is all about! ... 10.01.2022 Higher numbers don’t always mean better protection. The number ratings (15, 30, 50) are linked to your skins burn time! If your burn time is 10 minutes, an SPF 15 will give you 15 x 10 minutes before you need to reapply. SPF 30 gives you 30 x your burn time. ... Truth is it’s not an exact science so don’t reply in this calculation for your reapplication. Reapplying after swimming, sweating or working out is the best practice. Also, if you are out in the sun and your skin is already red from the sun it’s too late - you’ve already caused damage best just to get into some shade to avoid further damage. Things to remember: Wearing SPF daily even if it’s a cloudy day is just as important as wearing it when the suns out! UVA = Ageing! UVB = Burning!
