21.01.2022 Exciting news!! Solar for All becomes one step closer to reality with the announcement of funding for the Haystacks Solar Garden. NSW Government awarded gr...ant funding to a joint partnership between Pingala, Community Power Agency and Komo Energy through the Regional Community Energy Fund. The Solar Garden will be built on the edge of regional town Grong Grong in the NSW Riverina area. Households who can’t put solar on their own roof can purchase a ‘plot’ in the Solar Garden and have the electricity generated from their portion provided as a discount on their electricity bill. The 1MW solar garden will allow about 300 "locked out" energy users to access the benefits of solar for the first time. Here's to making the solutions happen!
18.01.2022 For this generation, this is our nuclear moment, said Jacinda Ardern yesterday, as New Zealand passed historic climate change legislation. "We're here because the world is warming, undeniably warming." She continued to state that she was proud of the fact that they were debating what to do about climate change, rather than if it was something to debate. This is fantastic news for New Zealand, setting a zero emissions target for 2050, with requirements that the government se...t new emission budgets every five years. An independent Climate Chage Commission will be created to help New Zealand achieve and monitor these commitments. While Ardern's coalition didn't need the support of the opposition, it still passed 119 votes to 1. Now there's bipartisan support for what is obviously something we should not be debating the existence of. So here we are again, Australia... following in the footsteps of our little cousin across the Tasman. Vote for women ten years after New Zealand, Nuclear power ban 14 years after New Zealand... it would be worrying if we waited till 2030 to do something about climate change.
06.01.2022 A coalition of 23 fire and emergency services say the government is trying to gag debate on climate change.
04.01.2022 "If I'm seen to be political by talking climate change, then what a shame for our democracy." Former Commissioner of Fire and Rescue NSW, Greg Mullins, did not ...hold back this morning on #RNBreakfast. He told Hamish Macdonald there could have been "concrete differences" if government ministers had listened to him and others about climate change. What do you think of his comments?
