22.01.2022 A good friend of mine, Rob Marzona, RNR Electrical, knew I was at home, not working, (though Rob doesn’t think teaching is working either ) and so called me to give him a hand with a fit-out at a commercial site at Clare Road, Kingston. He just needed a hand with installing AC isolators for several three-phase units in the ceiling. I do need to keep my skills current so, why not? After fitting off the isolators, he also needed a hand pulling in the submains. That was a bit more challenging, but working with Rob is great, he certainly has a way of picturing the job, working out each task, and then doing the tasks with everything just sliding into place. He is a great electrician.

20.01.2022 Just finished updating QET's website, what a huge job. Lisa (my wife, who used to be a Systems Analyst) and I spent several months creating new web pages to replace the outdated pages with frames. They say "no more frames on web pages any more". So the new website was launched in the new year. Not sure how the search engines will go, hopefully people will find us easier now. Please go check out the site (all green to match our logo) and let us know if you see any mistakes. Cheers! Website link: www.qet.edu.au

10.01.2022 Well May 8 (just so happened to be my birthday), the three stage plan was revealed for Australia to come out of lock-down. Sadly, my predicted 25 May did not align with these plans. QET felt that we best aligned with Stage 2. Consequently, QET plans to open their doors on the 15 June. Our training room is sized perfectly for 6 students to maintain 1.5m distancing (I just need to purchase new desks), and Robbie and I are sorting out the prac work to also manage social dist...ancing (well as far as practicable considering it is still prac work). After each day I’ll Glen 20 everything, so please take your belongings home otherwise you may find them saturated in Glen 20 . Robbie is currently flat out on Fraser where they are still recovering from the Christmas hailstorm. He has therefore asked that the training be spaced so that he can continue his work up there. So, my current timetable (provided we don’t relapse back into the epidemic) is 1. 15 June 18 June Battery Course 2. 22 June 25 June Contracting Course (QTP) 3. 13 July 16 July Solar Course I have some other large clients wanting to run training as well, but even with that said, I will attempt to run another solar course at the beginning of August to accommodate the huge number of calls I’ve received. Thanks so much for your support.

09.01.2022 During isolation, I have been busy finding projects to do. Next job, painting my office. What projects have you started? QET is suspending all operations until the threat of COVID-19 to students and staff has ended. If you have any enquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact QET via email at [email protected]. We are dedicated to delivering training, but we also provide consultation services.... Stay safe.

08.01.2022 Hi All Well, as you know, I spent the first part of April renovating the office, moved some points about, plastered up a few holes and gave it a nice paint job. It was all looking so neat that, before putting everything back in, I decided to go ballistic on my bits and pieces. I threw out so much stuff, resulting in my office still looking neat. I am so OCD. While that was happening, an exceptionally good engineer friend of mine helped me with the PSH formulae so I could ...continue developing my Excel Software programme for Solar and Battery Design in an off grid scenario. This has kept me busy for the remainder of April and the start of May. I am pleased to announce that it is starting to look quite good and feel that Robbie and I will be able to deliver the Off-Grid training course later this year. Robbie has been talking with the locals on Fraser Island and is securing training facilities as well as accommodation. I feel it really will be the ideal place to deliver off-grid, mainly because to really understand off-grid, you need to see the systems, not in photos, but in person. That way you will appreciate not only the size, but also all the system components that go into an off-grid system. I just hope we can deliver the course at a price that will suit people’s budgets. Not only do we need to work out accommodation (which is going to be extremely basic), but also meals, transport etc, and whether to deliver the four days on Frazer or two days here, two on Fraser. If anyone wants to put in their two cents, please feel free to reply, either here or email [email protected]. With this Covid-19 we might also need to apply for permission to visit Fraser? Speaking about Covid-19 and training, it looks like we might be opening our doors soon, with all this talk about the State Schools opening their doors. I have received quite a lot of emails asking when we are running solar and battery again. I hope to be operating the last week in May, depending on what decisions are made this Friday, by the Government. We will keep you posted. See more
