22.01.2022 This is a quick video on installing a crank driven kit on a dual suspension bike. https://youtu.be/AcKVkRmP12c Installing a mid-drive conversion kit on a dual suspension bicycle is a rather straight forward process. However, there is one key problem - finding the right bike. The great majority of dual suspension bikes dont have sufficient room within the front triangle to mount a battery. This is the most superior location to put the battery so ideally you can find a frame ...that has sufficient space for the battery that you intend to use. Mounting a typical rear rack battery doesnt work due to the dual suspension nature of the bike, the rear triangle moves up and down so the rack arms would quickly snap. A seat pole battery is an option but in our experience are susceptible to fatigue and movement. Mounting the battery above the top tube or beneath the down tube are OK options but aesthetically are not ideal. If you can find a frame large enough to house the battery inside the front triangle then performance and looks are best. The Anthem from GIANT is a dual suspension bike that is very popular all over the world and has good space within the frame. The older models tend to be better. The next problem related to choosing the correct bike is the width of the bottom bracket and also the type of bottom bracket. The bottom bracket is the part on the bicycle that connects the crankset to the bicycle and allows the pedals to rotate and spin the chain. Nearly all bikes have a bottom bracket shell width of between 68-73mm and the standard conversion kit works well with these dimensions. Unfortunately, many dual suspension bikes have bottom bracket widths of around 90mm. Older dual suspension bikes often have the regular 68mm or 73mm width and this is ideal. If you have a wider bottom bracket then youll have to get a special kit to work with it. Bafang make their mid-drive ktis with a wider bottom bracket to suit dual suspension bikes and also Fat bikes which are usually 120mm. The narrower bottom bracket shell is better because the kits are far more readily available and also because you tend to scrape your pedals on the group when cornering if you use a mid-drive conversion kit on a bike with a bottom bracket shell greater than 90mm that has low clearance. Another concern when looking at the bottom bracket is the newly popular press fit system seen all too commonly on dual suspension bikes. This system has a wider bottom bracket shell inside diameter. Its usually around 34mm in diameter but bikes with a press fit bottom bracket have a shell inside diameter around 46mm. Obviously the kit will shake around like crazy of it isnt snug. You can get around this by having cups made up to take up this slack but you need to find someone who has done it or call up your friendly fitter and turner. https://youtu.be/AcKVkRmP12c

We often get asked in the shop about the difference between cadence sensors and torque sensors. Nearly all hub motors have what is called cadence sensing, that means that the motor is activated with revolutions of the crank; you need to pedal about half a turn before the motor gets activated. The system is very robust and is the most popular system on the market but its main downfall is when you are stationary and need to start pedalling up a hill. Because you need to do the first revolution unassisted it can be difficult because of the hill and the extra weight. Torque sensing systems come standard on nearly any high-end mid-drive motor like the BOSCH or SHIMANO system and they differ in that the motor is activated by pressure, as soon as you push on the pedals the motor is activated. This system is superior due to the more instantaneous activation of power and higher levels of feedback from the sensor providing a smoother riding experience... #bikeparts #ebike #solarbike #ebicycle

06.01.2022 Saturday 24th November at 4.45am Santa had a little bonfire of the roof of the Woolstores shopping centre with a few of his friends and sucked in a bunch of nangs/bulbs/NO2. He got a bit high and mistook the vent of the roof for a chimney. Realising his mistake he tried to climb out but pulled the roof down. He spent some time inside realising the doors are well bolted but did manage finally to get back through the roof. He left a few of his personal items behind.
