25.01.2022 'The Battle of Long Tan' from the Vietnam War, can be watched here on YouTube; and the basis for last year's Australian film 'Danger Close'. Features men who served in Nui Dat in that conflict August 1966. Lest we Forget. https://youtu.be/8gUSq7pxux4

25.01.2022 Today is Vietnam Veterans Day. Each year, on 18 August, we commemorate the men of D Company, 6RAR who fought in the battle of Long Tan in 1966. On that day, 10...8 Australian and New Zealand soldiers fought a pitched battle against over 2,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops in a rubber plantation not far from the small village of Long Tan. The Australians prevailed, but only after fighting in torrential rain for four hours. Eighteen Australians lost their lives and 24 were wounded, the largest number of casualties in one operation since the Australian task force had arrived a few months earlier. After the battle the bodies of 245 enemy soldiers were found, but there was evidence that many more bodies had been carried away. #VietnamVeteransDay Read more about the battle of Long Tan: http://ow.ly/A1k550AT7He Image: After the battle of Long Tan weary men of Delta Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiments, gather on a landing zone for a quick meal before returning to the battlefield. 21.01.2022 Hey! Just a quick thank you to those that were interested in T-shirts and other merch last week, and gave some support for the 1st wave of designs. Gonna roll out a huge lot for the 2nd wave tomorrow, as there's also a possibility to be a featured indie artist if I hit a particular design number sooner rather than later, and every little bit helps right now. EDIT: LOOKS LIKE THERE'S CURRENTLY A 1 DAY SALE ON WAVE 1 DESIGNS NOW---> http://tee.pub/lic/masoncomics Again, when n...ext designs drop, they'll be 30% off for the first 48 hours, so stay tuned if you're keen. Re: Online book store, entering the postage calculations is the last detail holding it up, will get to that once I knock over the current comic book within this fortnight, plus add the limited stock numbers I have available (But feel free to have a sneak peek) Thank you again, and hope you are all safe and well https://www.masoncomics.com.au/shop

20.01.2022 Seventy-five years ago today, on 15 August 1945, Prime Minister Ben Chifley addressed the nation: Fellow citizens, the war is over. The Japanese government has... accepted the terms of surrender imposed by the allied nations. The Second World War was over. Spanning six years, the war was the most destructive conflict in human history. The defeat of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperial, Militarist Japan - claimed 60 million lives; 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust. A life was extinguished every three seconds. The world would never be the same again. In Australia, 15 August 1945 was gazetted as VP Day: Victory in the Pacific Day. Hundreds of thousands of jubilant Australians spilled into the streets of the nation’s cities, swept up in celebratory pandemonium. No one that day needed reminding of the value of freedom - or the price that had been paid for it. There was relief that the war was finally over, but apprehension about the future. To mark the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War the Memorial has curated a range of articles, collection items, events and first-hand accounts from veterans. 19.01.2022 Remembrance Day National Ceremony On 11 November 2020, the Australian War Memorial will hold a nationally televised Remembrance Day commemorative ceremony. In l...ight of the restrictions resulting from the pandemic, the format of the ceremony has been altered to ensure it complies with COVID-safe rules and will be attended by a limited number of invited guests; and broadcast live across Australia by the ABC and available later on ABC iview. As always, the service will include the laying of wreaths and a minute’s silence on the eleventh hour. At this time, the Australian public will be encouraged to safely pause in their homes, schools or workplaces to observe the minute’s silence to remember not only those lost, but all who came home and also those who follow in their footsteps. The Memorial will remain closed on the morning of Wednesday 11 November and will reopen to the public at the conclusion of the National Ceremony. Free timed tickets will be required to visit the galleries and will be available for sessions from 12.40 pm onwards. Tickets and visitor information can be found via the following link: www.awm.gov.au/visit #RemembranceDay #WeRememberThem

06.01.2022 A little peak at some post-phantom work; my creator owned project, which I hope to eventually kickstart in late 2021, and/or perhaps serialise on patreon. Dunno.... Anyway, here’s some process on the splash page in progress and a snippet of one of the characters. I wrote this intended graphic novel during lockdown when my other comic work was halted, has been nice while away from home for a few days to be able to work on something for myself while I figure out what’s next. 03.01.2022 "...Fathers, sons and brothers, together they fought and died That we may live in peace together, while at home their mothers cried. When that final bugle calls them to cross that great divide Those comrades will be waiting when they reach the other side." - Ken Bunker... On Anzac Day, we reflect. 03.01.2022 In the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of the commencement of the Korean War on 25 June 1950, we will be sharing stories, images and collection relating to Aust...ralian service personnel in Korea. Please share your own stories and photos with #KoreanWar70Years. Image: Private Alan Candlish, late of the Grenadier Guards, found this magpie with a broken leg on a Korean hillside. Now the magpie, whose leg has healed, refuses to leave Candlish and is happy to travel on his shoulder or radio set as he carries out his duties with 1RAR. Candlish was born in Manchester and migrated to Australia after the Second World War to join the Australian Army. (HOBJ3115).

03.01.2022 Though it's nice to see stories make print, the Comixology digital versions provide a cheap and easy alternative to receiving the comics in the mail, and also l...ook the closest to the original intent, given they're made on the screen these days... Having said that, I still like to own physical copies; but not a bad way to 'try before you buy'. Plus you avoid the ink smearing of the inexpensive newsprint. Here's a few random pages screen capped of 'the Phantom' 2019 Annual (#1830) story I wrote and drew a while back.
