20.01.2022 Almost fully booked out until the new year! If looking to book before summer, make sure to ring ASAP on 9749 5755 As a growing business, we are thankful for everyone that has been through this challenging year with us. Our podiatrist Asten, and receptionists have worked very hard to ensure we had another successful year and that has been ticked off our list ... With a rocky year due to covid and restrictions, we as a team and community have done so well. We thank you all. Don’t forget to call in if wanting an appointment #feet #shoes #forefoot #doctor #routine #essential #heelpain #podiatry #feet #shockwave

19.01.2022 One of our most common services! Routine Care A routine foot care appointment includes cutting, clearing and filing all nails with sterilised podiatry tools. If necessary, removal of callouses and corns (hard skin) with a scalpel will be performed. Although it sounds painful, most people are surprised by the lack of discomfort and enjoy regular appointments. A routine appointment is different for each individual and may be required every 4-10 weeks. The Podiatrist will be able to identify fungal nails and advise on best treatment or more appropriate footwear if further offloading is needed. Again, different depending on the feet. :))

19.01.2022 As everyone is aware of the stage 4 restrictions, Sole Health Podiatry will still be open. The Health ministers announcement states that Melburnians are permitted to leave their home to seek health care during and after curfew. Urgent or not, you are allowed to come to appointments. If you do want to cancel an appointment, please make sure to call us and cancel as we can cover spots for people wanting an appointment. Thank you all! #toes #podiatry #essential #feet #healthcare

18.01.2022 Found this and thought Id share it! Warts! Caused by an infection of the skin, a wart can sit under the skin before displaying any signs of it. To commonly treat this, chemical application is used and other treatments such as minor surgery. Each wart can look different. So its worth going to your podiatrist for! ... 17.01.2022 Came across this on my Pinterest feed. I think its an important topic to talk about. Attached to this post is a link to a website discussing the negative impacts of toddlers sitting in the W position. Simply put, W-sitting is a position when a child has their knees out in front of them, but their ankles and feet are to either side of their hips, creating that classic W shape. Totally normal though, every toddler may sit like this daily! Its a typical part of child develop...ment. Although it may cause or indicate issues with gross and fine motor development. Occasionally, it may even be a sign of another developmental issue that needs attention. Worth having a read of https://www.healthline.com/health/baby/w-sitting#what-is-it

12.01.2022 Wearing heels forces your ankles to bend forward, like youre standing on your tip toes. This can cause a series of health problems. It restricts blood circulation in your lower limbs which can lead to spider veins, it can also shorten the muscles in your calves and stiffen your Achilles tendon, leading to pain and muscle spasms. But the pain doesnt just occur in your legs and feet. Heels can also cause back and knee problems. For your body to stay balanced on heels, your spine needs to sway unnaturally, which adds stress to the muscles in your spine. This results in a sore lower back. #heels #highheels #backpain #bignono #healthcare #essential #podiatry #feet

12.01.2022 Friendly reminder that we are still running and in business! As a podiatrist clinic, we are essential and still taking appointments. Call us to book on 9749 5755 #essential #clinic #healthcare #heels #podiatry #feet #OPEN

12.01.2022 Did you know exercising barefoot can promote your sense of balance, improve muscle alignment, reduce orthopaedic pains, and lessen the chance of injury? Although it is extremely beneficial and rewarding, barefoot training is something that needs to be approached gradually, and with caution. The importance of a transition phase between working out in sneakers and working out barefoot cannot be stressed enough.... Looking to incorporate barefoot training but not sure where to start, below is a list of of top tips for beginners who are interested. 1. Start small by strengthening. Just as a biceps need tension to build muscle, so do our toes. Standing barefoot on a towel and crunching the fabric back and forth by contracting The muscles in your toes is a great way to start. 2. After focusing on the towel exercise for a while, you can move on to picking up marbles which will help to gradually improve your foot strength. 3. Next, the flexibility needs to be increased within your foot. This can be as simple as a deep tissue massage on the bottom of your foot or standing on your toes prior to exercise. 4. Finally, integrate the feet and core. Use exercises such as rigid lever. And remember! Its a marathon, not a sprint. For the best results, commit to a routine over time and gradually build the strength and flexibility of your feet.

07.01.2022 Why Are People With Diabetes at Risk of Ulcers? Foot and lower leg ulcers are one of the many problems caused by poorly controlled diabetes. Ulcers that do not heal can lead to amputations of toes, parts of the foot, or the lower leg. Diabetes damages blood vessels throughout the body. Tiny blood vessels that supply the nerves in the legs may be affected, resulting in burning pain or numbness in the feet (peripheral neuropathy) and reduced pain sensation. Calluses, blisters,... cuts, burns, and ingrown toenails can all lead to diabetic foot ulcers. A patient may not be aware of these minor injuries due to peripheral neuropathy, so ulcers may develop and enlarge before they are noticed. Larger blood vessels in the legs may also be affected by diabetes, resulting in poor circulation (peripheral artery disease). Ulcers may heal slowly due to peripheral artery disease. High blood glucose levels also delay healing. Daily foot inspection is an important part of diabetes management and can help prevent foot ulcers.

05.01.2022 Childrens feet: We all want the best for our children and looking after their feet is no exception. Your childs feet are of major importance in all their actions, and any problems are best detected early to prevent more serious foot complications later in life. Some common conditions are as such:... - Flat Feet - In toeing/Out toeing - Toe walking - Crooked/ curly toes Lets talk further about flat feet: This is a condition where the arch of the foot either fails to develop or collapses. Most feet have an arch on the medial side of the foot, however some children have a flattened arch. Most children have a flexible foot with normal arch on tiptoeing. Flat feet usually resolve by the age of 6 years. However if they remain flat and cause pain, treatment with an orthotic is recommended to minimise tissue stress and pain To fix this, a podiatrist may give advice on certain footwear and which best suits your child. If your child has weakness of the muscles in their foot, you can provide opportunities for them to walk on different surfaces such as sand, grass, and through water.

04.01.2022 The importance of washing your feet in the shower! Lets start with hygiene 101. Regularly washing the skin on your feet, top, sides, and bottomwith soap and water is an easy way to stop them from smelling so much you can practically see the funk wafting from your toes. Your feet are covered with bacteria! And the stench can be easily gonna with a little soap and water. Washing your feet helps rid of dead skin cells, and prevent rigid mounds of skin from building up.... #feet #odor #facts #helpful #essential #awareness #prevention #podiatry #OPEN #WARTS

03.01.2022 Shockwave Therapy... yep we know it sounds scary.. . (We promise it’s not as bad as it sounds!) Shockwave is a non-invasive treatment in which a hand held device delivers acoustic sound wave energy (shockwaves) through the skins surface into an affected or injured area. This high energy percussion of sound waves works to accelerate tissue or bone healing by: - Increasing blood flow meaning: treatment will accelerate the time your tissues take to repair by i...ncreasing cell productivity. - Stimulating fibroblast (soft tissue cell) production meaning: it’s going to help in the healing ligaments, tendons, muscles in a faster time frame. - Inhibits Cox II enzyme meaning: you should generally have an immediate decrease in pain levels. Shockwave is a research proven treatment approach and may be effective in treating: Tendons, fascia, and ligament injuries. If you think shockwave might be for you. Make an appointment with our podiatrist to discuss your injury.
