20.01.2022 Warts on kids' feet Sometimes they can spread like wildfire through classrooms - but why? The simple answer is that kids love to play together, and often end up with bare feet. As warts spread through contact, sharing the same floors and surfaces where someone has an exposed wart on their feet can do the trick!... It's even easier to spread them in households - with siblings using the same shower one after the other, sharing shoes and socks, and the like. If your child has a wart, you can minimise the spread in your home and in their classroom by having them treated, and then keeping them sealed. We have a number of gentle yet effective treatments to help kids get rid of those pesky warts.

20.01.2022 December is HERE! And that means a few special changes to our hours around Christmas. Our last day for the year is Wednesday 23rd December, and we'll be back and refreshed in the clinic on Monday 11th January. If you're wanting an appointment before Christmas or mid-Jan then book them in NOW so you can grab your preferred spot while they're left!

19.01.2022 We treat runner's with knee pain OFTEN Running puts a tremendous amount of force and pressure on your knee in perspective? The force across patellar tendon - the tendon that goes down from your quads, across the knee and down to the shin bone - has been found to be around 4.7 to 6.9 times body weight. ... And your patellofemoral joint? The joint between your kneecap (patella) and femur (thigh bone)? Jogging has compressive forces of 7.0 to 11.1 times body weight. This means it's really no surprise that runners can and do develop knee pain - and it also means that we've developed set processes aimed directly at alleviating the symptoms and treating the problem now, as well as helping prevent the pain from recurring in the future.

17.01.2022 Cracked heels are an a very common complaint over the summer! That's because many of us wear thongs or sandals that dry the skin on our feet out. Thankfully, we can bring back smooth, supple heels - or significantly improve your heels - in one appointment. We start by carefully removing the cracked, rough dead skin. Don't worry - it's dead skin, so this removal is painless using the tools in our clinic.... We then use a sanding disk to smooth out any remaining rough edges and lather your heels with some moisturising cream. The difference is incomparable - and if hard patches of cracked skin were previously causing pain when you walked, we'd expect some relief here too. Book your appointment by sending us a message, calling us on 1300-FX-FEET, or booking your appointment online!

17.01.2022 You didn’t know about the new #SoleMotion staff #Footwear with @archiesfootwear. Good to have these back in stock but can you guess which foot belongs to Kylie? Which one is Kamas? And which is mine? #SoleToSole

16.01.2022 I have flat feet but I have NO foot problems. Should I still see a podiatrist? This is a fantastic question - and one we're keen to address seeing as there's a rumour going around that flat feet on their own are BAD - when they're not. Is it true that flat feet *may* predispose you to specific problems throughout the course of your life like heel pain (plantar fasciitis) and posterior tibial tendon dysfunction? Yes ... Does having flat feet mean that you'll DEFINITELY develop these - or any other problems? Nope When we assess your feet and legs, we never look at your foot type on its own. We consider it together with a number of things like: Any pain or discomfort you're currently experiencing Your history of injuries Your medical conditions Your occupation (specifically how it works your lower limbs - or doesn't) Your exercise involvement (trust us, as soon as you bring a decent amount of certain exercises into the mix, your risk *can* increase significantly) Your goals & lifestyle ... and plenty of others It's only when we look at the ENTIRE picture can we determine whether your flat feet may be putting you at risk and you need any additional care - or not.

14.01.2022 Melbourne, we made it through six months of lockdown using our home gyms. Now that our gyms and leisure centres are re-opening, and exercising outdoors is an option again, many of us are starting to pick up our exercise routines again. Already, we’re seeing a higher-than-normal number of overuse injuries coming into the clinic with one common cause: going too hard too fast when getting back into exercising, without acknowledging that we’ve been working out very differently fo...r the past six months, and need to ease back into it to prevent pains and injuries. So today, we've shared how to return back into exercise safely after lockdown in our new blog: https://solemotionpodiatry.com/avoiding-exercise-injuries-/

10.01.2022 It's World Diabetes Day. If you have diabetes, you should be having a diabetic foot health check *every* year. Why? Diabetes impairs both your circulation and sensation. BUT. The effects worsen gradually, over time.... This means that over the years, your ability to feel, and the circulation to your feet, will worsen. As it does, you become more susceptible to sustaining a wound - and not being able to feel it. If that happens, your ability to heal the wound worsens, meaning it takes longer to heal, AND your ability to fight any infections that develop worsen, too. Having an annual diabetic foot health check means you know exactly what's happening with your feet every year. If you know the status of your foot health, you know the right precautions to take to manage your risks. If you have diabetes and haven't had your foot health check yet this year - we'd love to help!

It's called a BS Brace, and it's changing the lives of so many of our patients that struggle with painful ingrown toenails or nails that pinch into the sides.
