04.01.2022 ESafety - IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PARENTS With holidays coming and children having more time at home - it's good to plan and think about how much time your child/ren should have on devices. Parents need to monitor their use to keep them safe and also teach their child to think of others so they have respectful behaviour. It's easy to type a comment but children need to be taught the consequences of their actions if it's a nasty and bad comment. Cyber bullying can cause long te...rm damage to a child's self esteem and it can impact their schooling. The internet is a great way to socialise, learn, work, play and be entertained but with technology comes risks. Do you know how to keep your child safe online? To help you talk to your children about cyber safety there are many resources to help guide you through this on the Department of Education website. Other online resources are available on the eSafety Commissioner website. If you need support to report cyberbullying, image-based abuse or illegal and harmful content go to Report Abuse on the eSafety Commissioner website. You can also learn about the latest games, apps and social media platforms, including how to protect your information and report inappropriate content in The eSafety Guide. Please let me know, or your child's teacher or a Deputy - if your child has experienced cyberbullying so we can support them and also help and teach the child/ren doing the bullying the implications of what they are doing.
