08.05.2022 Food prep is literally everything when it comes to having a best health outcome. Living with chronic illness means there is less room for poor decisions involving food. Also, with many limitations, food prep means I can really enjoy delicious food without feeling like I am missing out. Right now, I am following an autoimmune protocol diet (loosely) for hashimotos and minimising saturated fats by reducing animal consumption to reduce oestrogen & symptoms of endometriosis. Food... focus is on a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and increasing the amount and variety of prebiotic foods to improve gut micro-bihome, digestion and reduce inflammation while always following a dairy free, gluten free protocol. An adequate amount of protein in every meal is essential to balance blood sugar and for my study brain, but nuts are also off the menu due to contribution to inflammation and mast cell. Some individuals, like myself, have limitations in their diet but it's pretty important not to let that affect your intake of adequate nutrition or the love of food, especially if you live with chronic illness. Learning how to work with where you are at and explore new or alternative ways of eating is a pretty important skill set when you are dealing with chronic health conditions. A nutritionist helps you define the best food choices for reduction of symptoms but more importantly still improving your current health condition by improving nutritional status. Are you stuck when it comes to food, don't know which Google search is revealing the true information and/or do you have limitations in your diet and don't know what your options are for alternatives or do you simply want to make better food choices and need someone to teach you and support you? It's one thing to be a Naturopath & Nutritionist... it's a whole other ball game when they also understand what it feels like to live with a chronic health condition and win! You can make an appointment on my https://somersnaturopath.com/ Here's to happy and delicious eating! Kale and white bean, vege soup on bone broth. Apple and banana loaf with vanilla Tropeaka vegan protein, green banana flour, flaxseed & more.
22.04.2022 I am running another nourishing and inclusive workshop @northeystreetcityfarm on Saturday 21st May. I'll share with you which herbs you should grow in your garden or balcony, why and how to use them to make medicine. We also talk about how we can use permaculture principles to design healthy behaviours in our homes and for our lives to build on sustainable ecology for our health, families and community. These workshops are so rewarding for you and me as we share life experien...ces, questions and time together to grow our relationships with the natural world. Tickets available in bio.

19.03.2022 Joy is such an important aspect of our living experience, determining our health. Beautiful foraged flowers bring me joy, which explains my long running love affair with nature. Is there anything more WONDER-FULL!? The weight of the world has been impactful in recent times, I don't feel anyone can argue that. Personally, I have always used hard times to inspire action towards either change of the outcome, proactivity, or my experience of the outcome, acceptance, perhaps that'...s why I'm studying am Masters of Public Health We live in times where there is so much opportunity for proactivity, and learning new ways of being. These are the times to harness our anger and liberate our fears by passionately driving towards change. But, as an empath, even I can get stuck underneath it all, because this is the human experience. This is where DIS-EASE manifests in populations, relationships and in our bodies, muddling our outlook to shades of grey and discontent. Joy is my tool to bring me back to my centre, my purpose... to bringing back the colour. Joy is medicine. So, what does Joy feel like to me: laughter, flowers, sunshine, sleep, juicy fruit, long hugs, meditation, swimming in the ocean, gazing at the stars, climbing mountains, gardening, puppies and chai tea. What's does Joy feel like to you?
