24.01.2022 I know I have been a bit quiet of late but I wanted to share this wonderful article about 'Colour Psychology' and how it contributes to human behaviour from one of my fave companies, Warwick Fabrics. Have a think about it. Why do you choose to wear a red dress or a red tie to an event, or love to sit and look at the blue ocean or the green rolling hills? As Warwick states, colour psychology aims to determine how hues can affect our day to day life, from the purchases we make... to the way our mood shifts when surrounded by certain tones. Colour has the ability to calm us, focus us, agitate us and even make us move faster. Colour psychology can help us gain a better understanding of how and why to choose colours and what combinations to use them in for best effect. Enjoy !

23.01.2022 It's official! My favourite colour has been announced as the 2020 Colour of The Year by Pantone & Warwick Fabrics! CLASSIC BLUE "While initially intimidating, you quickly realise this rich, bold hue has so much to offer a space. Feelings of peace, tranquillity, spirit, concentration and clarity amongst many others, this blue brings them all!... Expect to see classic blue appearing in interiors everywhere. From large form furniture or feature chairs to eye-catching accent walls, panelling and smaller pops of colour in cushions and throws there are many ways to use this surprisingly diverse and adaptable hue. The announcement of PANTONE 19-5052 Classic Blue couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for the New Year and indeed the new decade. We are getting very excited for them both especially with so much unknown." Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and I look forward to helping you with your home decorating needs in 2020!!

20.01.2022 Happy 2020 everyone! I have to say it didn't start off great (extreme bushfires and their aftermath) but let's hope the year gets better and better! On that note - I have changed my Cover picture to show Dulux Paint's 2020 Colour Forecast! What rich, regal colours! So much nicer than beige, grey or white...don't you think?... So...even though we are all LOVING the rain - let's add some sunshine into your weekend....with Warwick Fabric's first colour palette for 2020! GOLD!

20.01.2022 What a great idea! https://www.facebook.com/109437690686983/posts/153443252953093/

17.01.2022 Love the finished look of this recently refurbished family home. The interior colour scheme has been updated to achieve a lighter, brighter and modern homely look and feel. To complement the new paint colour, new carpet and vinyl flooring, we have replaced the dark coloured vertical blinds with beautiful various taupe toned drapes including elegant linen sheers (for a modern, almost beachy look in the family room), and voile sheers and blockout drapes on double tracks in th...e lounge, dining and master bedrooms (for privacy, thermal and room darkening purposes). To finish off, we have chosen 63mm blade timber look Venetians in the office (Classic White for a fresh look), and in the bar area (in Driftwood to match the linen sheers in the family room). It has really given the interior of this lovely home a new lease of life! Thank you to my customers for choosing Somerset Interior Designs to help achieve their dreams.

16.01.2022 The lounge room in this Brisbane unit received a new lease of life and great thermal protection from the hot summer sun today with these beautiful curtains using Wilson's Broome blockout fabric.

14.01.2022 Covid19 Project #1. Recover 8 x dining room chairs. Changing from navy blue to duck egg blue to brighten the room! One down...7 to go!

14.01.2022 Another local home is now ready for this year's Qld summer heat with their beautiful new sheerweave roller blinds. The blinds are made with Shaw’s Sheerweave Performance Plus, which is a fibreglass screen with aluminum coating providing reduced solar heat gain, highly effective glare reduction, thermal performance and clear view to the outside. Yes - they are a little dearer in price - but SO WORTH IT! See for yourself! Thank you to my lovely customers for inviting me to help you with your home decorating project!

12.01.2022 Cushions certainly make a plain bed look more luxurious!

12.01.2022 Dulux Colour Forecast 2020

12.01.2022 Want a soft luxe look for your home but also need a thermal product to maintain a comfortable temperature in your home during summer and winter? There are so many beautiful sheer fabrics on the market today, ranging from voile through to thicker linens, in a variety of colours and patterns! Most have a 300cm width, so you can have curtains with a drop up to 3 metres for that elongated look! You can then install blockout roller blinds in a neutral or matching tone underneath!... This enables you to leave the sheer curtains closed for privacy while using the roller blinds to control light and temperature! This customer recently redecorated her elegant lounge room with pure white blockout roller blinds and a gorgeous curtains in a white striped sheer fabric by Nettex called Brit (Pearl). See attached pics. Here's what my customer said about the finished product. "Thanks Julie. The curtain fabric shining in the sun is lovely. I can see through them just enough. I really love them. The blinds are of a high quality, easy to operate and truly keep the hot western sun out! Thanks again. Kathy"

10.01.2022 To all my loyal customers I hope you are all doing OK. I am not going anywhere so let me know if you need any home decorating advice. I have some lovely new fabrics, including tripleweaves (room darkening and easy care) as well as a modern sheer on it's way from Rowe fabrics, named Karo (see pic). I have also just furnished all the bedrooms in a home in Hazeldean with a beautiful Nettex fabric (Chopin - Menthol) and a silicon blockout lining to keep that hot western sun o...ut of the rooms! Looks stunning and the customer is very happy! (See Pic) Warwick Fabrics weekly inspiration is a very cheery colour palette! Let’s turn lemons into lemonade! Sending thoughts and well wishes to you all at this difficult time of hardship and uncertainty, Enjoy and stay safe! Julie

08.01.2022 Love them or hate them...vertical blinds certainly have a place and purpose as a window treatment! Blades can be 2 widths...127mm (most common) and 97mm (a more sleek and modern look). They can be made in so many fabrics (transparent thru to blockout). They are one of the most practical options in that they can be tilted any angle to suit privacy and lighting needs or stacked back off the window/door to maximise your view and natural light!... They can be made with or without chains on the base (now more popular without). They can be fitted inside a window recess (depending on frame depth etc) or fixed to the architrave or wall (e.g.. for sliding doors). AND (depending on the chosen fabric) are one of the cheapest custom made products available! The attached photos are of a brand new investment home recently completed. The fabric chosen is a blockout made by Shaw Fabrics Australia known as Vibe (Ice) which matches the pale grey paintwork perfectly to create a seamless and spacious look! See what you think. BTW the customer loves the completed look!

05.01.2022 Gorgeous local home decor store in Kilcoy! https://www.facebook.com/420284334838907/posts/1261387020728630/

04.01.2022 How is everyone going with their home decorating projects? I am grateful to have had the privilege of helping people over the past few socially isolating months with their projects. These have included advice on paint colours, new blockout blinds for private and investment homes, gorgeous luxe curtains (elegant sheers and blockouts) for homes, new seat cushions for an outdoor lounge AND even a motorhome refurbishment (curtains and seat cushions)!... I will share some of those jobs over the next few days. Thank you so much to my wonderful clients for keeping me busy and creative over the past months! As they say, we are in this together!
