03.01.2022 A very Merry Christmas to all the awesome Sharks Family - players, both past and present, Members and our awesome Sharky Army supporters. Coaching appointments 2021: As previously advised we are rapt to have Beau Blizzard return as Club and Senior Coach. The reworked playing style introduced to the men’s squads combined with hard work at training produced results in the latter half of the season so it is going to be a very exciting season ahead for this group. Spots in this t...eam are going to be difficult to get and keep with Beau aiming to get the best out of every player. The sky is the limit if all the pieces come together as hoped. Michael Jeffrey and Bryton Rush will team up with the women’s squad. Michael proved an organisational dynamo last season, having to mould this new squad into some footballing shape. Bryton, aka Tractor, will bring the finer footballing detail particularly around skills and technique. This team is on an upward trajectory! Our first ever Northern Under 16 squad will be coached by senior pair Nick Phillips and Kieren Whitehouse. The boys cut their coaching teeth with the Under 18’s this past season and will look to build on this experience with a very talented squad. This will be a team to watch. Northern Championship 1 will be striving to go 1 better this next season after taking the runners up spot in 2020. Che Burtenshaw and Chris Stuart will team up to seek the elusive first NC1 premiership for the Club. In exciting news Somerset’s NC1 team has been invited to participate in a ‘social champions league’. We are drawn in the tier 1 competition against southern teams Kingborough (SC2) Phoenix Rovers (SC2) and Uni Dynamo (SC3). This comp starts February 12th so get to training to secure a spot in the side. It should be a great preseason hit out with a bit of match practice and a few beers after. We are guaranteed 2 of the games at home. North West Youth teams will be coordinated by Mathew Jordan. Matt has developed his coaching skills over the last few years, having coached both Under 18s and NC1. As a star senior player he will be drawing on the support of senior team members as well as parents, particularly when our senior team is playing in Launceston. As always, all players are welcome and previous soccer experience is not essential. And remember: PRE SEASON STARTS JANUARY 12TH FOR ALL TEAMS. In the meantime have a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year, and I look forward to seeing past, present and new players at the Club for what is going to be an awesome 2021 season.
