25.01.2022 Hi all - we have the annual calendar drop tonight - sometimes we have community members come down to assist. We're going to be meeting at the station at 6pm to commence at 6.30pm. If you're interested in helping out, please shoot the page a message - with Covid restrictions we have to manage numbers so please send us a message if you're interested!!... Many thanks!!
23.01.2022 Sommie just a heads up. Our crews and very professional (and handsome) Santa assistants are having some food. We'll be moving again shortly. Thanks for all your generosity, and we're so stoked at how much fun everyone is having. Also, if you show your kids this you get no presents.
17.01.2022 Tell you what Somerville. Sitting here listening to the rain is a far, far cry from where we were last year. We'd like to thank you all for your support over the last 12 months. It's obviously been a trying time for everyone - maintaining our response to the community has been our top priority, and it's been a learning experience for everyone. As we're coming into warmer weather we'd ask everyone to start thinking about their fire plan and preparing their property for summer.... There are great resources on the CFA website: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/pla/how-to-prepare-your-property Big thank you as well to the people who expressed an interest in joining after last year, and are now doing their General Fire Fighter training. The patience displayed by our new recruits has been fantastic. Thanks all - stay safe!
17.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS SOMERVILLE!!! We'd love it if you posted your photos from the Santa Run in the comments!!
13.01.2022 Somerville here is the timetable for our Christmas Eve Santa Run!! The only real difference this year is that we can't get down off the truck for Santa to give the kids a hug (and have snags). Please tell the kids that Santa is very sorry, but that he has to do it this way this year.... Thanks so much for your support through what has been an interesting year to say the least. We will be doing our best to stick to the timetable - if we're not there bang on time, don't stress, we will get there. We cannot tell you how absolutely stoked we are that this Christmas tradition, part of what makes this town great, is going ahead. Merry Christmas!!
13.01.2022 Good afternoon Somerville! Just a friendly reminder to check on the gas fittings on your BBQ before you fire it up - particularly if you're doing the first barbie of the season, or changing over gas bottles. We attended a call today where a gas bottle had leaked causing a fire to start under a BBQ. Thankfully no one was injured and the fire didn't spread, however it always is a frightening and very unsafe experience.... If this happens, please don't hesitate, call 000 immediately - gas fires can get out of control quickly, with the risk of explosion. Please check out the following link from Energy Safe Victoria, with info on how to make sure you're grilling safely this summer. https://esv.vic.gov.au/campaigns/barbecue-safety/
13.01.2022 Good evening Somerville!! As we're coming into absolutely cracking weather, please ensure you check your gas bottles on your BBQ. We attend incidents caused by leaking or failed gas bottles too often - please make sure you take care for your safety - easy to check, saves a lot of heartache.

We are planning to deliver this year's Christmas Eve Santa Run as close to normal as possible, however, with the need to be safe with respect to Coronavirus things might be a little different. ... We're working through our 'CovidSAFE' event plan and when we have more details we will share them with you. We just ask for your understanding as we work through the details. Just quietly though - we are absolutely STOKED.
