14.01.2022 When you start a new job, you should receive an employment contract. There is no standard contract for employment in Australia so each contract you see may be slightly different, so it’s important you know what to look out for and understand what you are signing. To help we have put together a checklist of some key things to look out for that are usually in an employment contract and what you should expect to see. If there is something you are not happy with in your contract it is always best to have an open discussion with your employer. Thanks to the team at HR Hub who helped with the list! SONA members have free access to HR resources like this.

06.01.2022 Wednesday 26 August 6pm Many graduates feel overwhelmed starting out after university and are not always sure what to do next or how to speak up.... How can it be that so many clever, competent and capable people can feel that they are just one step away from being exposed as a complete fraud? Despite evidence that they are performing well they can still have that lurking fear that at any moment someone is going to tap them on the shoulder and say "We need to have a chat". Hugh Kearns, author of The Imposter Syndrome, will talk about the latest psychological research that tells us about the imposter syndrome and how to be aware of evidence-based strategies that reduce imposter feelings. Hugh Kearns is recognised internationally as a public speaker, educator and researcher. He regularly lectures at universities across the world and has recently returned from lecture tours of the UK and the US which included lectures at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Berkeley and Stanford. His areas of expertise include self-management, positive psychology, work-life balance, learning and creativity. www.ithinkwell.com.au www.impostersyndrome.com.au @ithinkwellhugh
