04.01.2022 SuperStudio NSW 2020 winner Lisushan Meng on her submission The Reviving Point: "The chosen site for this design proposal is the fire destroyed NSW bushlands. Though a year has passed since the start of the Black Summer Bushfire, when we think of it, the charcoal black forest, the devasted people who lost their homes andloved ones, the animals lost their habitants and lives are still very fresh in our memory. With this design proposal, I intended to offer hope for those peopl...e and animals who still live in terror and grief because of the bushfire. Meanwhile, the design is meant to remind everyone of us what has happened; so we would do what we can to avoid another disaster like this. The design proposal is an installation which collects rain water and connects to underground water source. Small animals and birds can drink from this water installation. The cracked skin and charcoal black holes of the installation reminds people of a tree trunk burnt by fire and survived. The water installation can be multiplied and connected in the bushlands, so a network of reviving points can be created, through which people can witness the resilience of nature and restore their hope for a better future." 03.01.2022 Round of applause for SuperStudio NSW 1st place winner Lisushan Meng from UNSW!

02.01.2022 Round of applause for our SuperStudio NSW 2nd place winners David Barko and Siar Ata from USYD! David and Siar on their submission Tracing the Fires: "Our response attempts to re-interpret the practice of Traditional Indigenous fire management which involves deploying cool(low intensity) and patchy burning early in the dry season to reduce grass fuel. Firebreaks are created in the landscape that help stop larger and far more severe fires late in the dry season.... Blending this practical activity with the idea of the songlines based on aboriginal navigation and storytelling, we retell the story of nature and navigating a new century where the res burn hotter and stronger than ever before. Songlines trace astronomy and geographical elements in ancient stories that have helped shape the landscape to what it is today. They were first used as a form of communication across areas of Australia. Our path highlights the connection back to nature by taking inspiration from the original owners who had a great understanding the landscape and developed a spiritual and practical relationship to the land. This pathway is a spiritual pilgrimage to find connections and relationships to the land. We highlight these invisible pathways across the land mapped out by Aboriginal elders, this journey takes users from one location to another and they develop connection to the land, by exposing them to a guided natural walk while experiencing the destruction and regrowth of nature over a tumultuous landscape."

01.01.2022 Round of applause for our SuperStudio NSW 3rd place winners Yuzhen Xin and Yuki Zhou from USYD!
