23.01.2022 We filled up our water table and made paper boats out of coloured paper. It was the first time the kids had seen a paper boat and they thought it was pretty cool. My aim in this post is to show how simple changes to a play set-up can influence a child's interest and therefore the length of time they spend on the activity, saying that, there are always days and times when a child is not interested and that's OK. We are not supposed to dictate their play, they should be free to pick and choose as they please. But I do believe it is our job to entice them with new ideas and concepts and follow their lead from there. So paper boats its is, which then turned into a mushy mess

22.01.2022 Children need to know what to expect and what will happen in a fire drill/evacuation....The children knew exactly what the alarm sounded like and how loud it really was. They learned to walk past that loud sound to leave the house - even if they didn’t like it. They learned that the sound was to keep them safe. I had informed them that we will be doing a practice drill, to avoid panic and catching them unaware. Upon sounding the alarm we gathered together, did a quick visual inspection of the area and walked out through the closest exit, ensuring all children follow!!
