When I was performing tasks at work, I'd consciously recognise what I was feeling. I'd consider how that feeling compared to a different task, or another action. Over time, I found I was learning about myself. The small details about me - what happiness, satisfaction, and fulfilment felt like and how this compared to the opposite of those. I drilled deep and developed a 'knowingness' about myself that began a personal transformation. Such a transformation has taken my life journey much further than I ever imagined. An inner calmness. When that feeling has been strong - overwhelmingly strong - the wish has become a desire to make things different. I can’t always change big things like climate change but I can take positive actions that will help. By taking action, I live with purpose. I didn’t earn enough to support my children but instead of resigning myself to living with the attitude ‘it is what it is’, I obtained a higher level of education so that I could get a better paying job. Taking action is to take control of your life - to pursue what you are passionate about - to know your purpose. It may not be easy to discover what drives you from within.
