25.01.2022 Bio-Fertiliser quality control chief Remy gets to check out his work. We posted his enthusiastic assistance awhile back at the beginning of this batch. Overall Rems looking pretty happy with the outcome. I could tell by his general demeaner and his obvious desire at one point to taste it. 25.01.2022 Pickled garlic is a staple in our kitchen because it has so many uses. We use small amounts of the garlic juice in various dips and sauces, and the cloves are used either cooked or raw in most savory dishes. Fermented garlic surpasses the nutritional value of fresh garlic. Studies have found that the fermentation process dramatically raises it's properties and bioavailability, which is true of most fermented foods. To make; peel garlic, sterilise a jar, add pepper corns, mus...tard seeds, cumin seeds and a bay leaf. Mix 1 tbsp sea salt in non chlorinated water. Once the salt is dissolved pour over garlic. Keep garlic submerged in the liquid. Leave at room temp for 1-2 weeks then refrigerate to stop/slow the fermentation process. We've also made a fermented garlic brew with our Starter Culture, and applied it as a bug deterant for plants and trees and it has worked well. Garlic is definitely one of natures wonders! 23.01.2022 Relocation of the vege garden to a new area, using an old pine box for the new beds. The soil was the priority to relocate but all the plants and herbs have been transplanted too. The soil has been built over the last 6 months by way of an 'on the ground compost heap' (1x1 mtre sq) using our beneficial microbes Compost Activator with organic matter, woodchip, manure and food scraps. Good soil is where it's at with growing food because nutrient rich, microbially active soil... produces nutrient dense food. The herbs and plants were soaked in our Seaweed BioFertiliser before transplanting and they look to have very little transplant shock. 16.01.2022 Hi folks, Sonja here, I want to take a brief moment to share with you the motivation behind SONIC Natural Farming. In 2011 I started growing my own food so that I could ensure what I ate had nutrient density without chemicals. The push for me to do this was due to a chronic illness that could not be pinned to any apparent cause. After many years of taking supplementary minerals and vitamins it became a bit of a joke. Why wasn’t I getting these nutrients from my food? It di...dn’t take long to join the dots and uncover the huge amount of chemicals and artificial fertilisers that had pervaded our food chain. Our bodies aren’t designed to digest chemicals. I applied the same principals I used to recover my body’s health, to the garden. I figured if everything I put in was natural then I was giving nature the best opportunity to balance itself and heal. I stopped trying to work out which minerals were missing and started trusting natures biology to do the work. SONIC Natural Farming evolved as a business based around the beautifully simple principals we used from Korean Natural Farming, where all the inputs are natural and a mutual respect resides between nature and humans. These have all been cut the same width, about 1cm, so they dry evenly. They were sun dried over 2 days, then on the third day finished off in the dehydrator.... 04.01.2022 It's easy deciding what to have for breakfast when you venture out and find these goodies in the garden! French toast and berries it is. Using @hearthfire_bakery delicious Rustic Loaf with our own healthy chook eggs. Blueberries are doing well, still growing in big pots but they get regular doses of our home-made Seaweed Bio-Fertiliser. They're also protected with bird netting from the birds.... The strawberries are growing in a large pot too. We discovered that strawberries really like pine needles so they are growing in a home-made organic soil mix with a lot of old pine needles ..and they are going gang busters! Pine covers the plant roots, but still allows air and moisture through to the soil beneath. It's a great mulch material for strawberries and other acidic soil loving plants! Oh, and the strawberries also get regular doses of Seaweed Bio-Fertiliser for the minerals and so that the microbes can keep the potted soil in balance.
