25.01.2022 On the vigil of the feast day of St Francis, Pope Francis released his third Encyclical Letter entitled Fratelli Tutti (Brother and Sisters All), drawing on words of St Francis https://bit.ly/3nUffea. This latest Encyclical, subtitled On Fraternity and Social Friendship, builds upon the Pope’s previous Encyclical - Laudato Si' (Praise Be to You), which has inspired the development of Sophia College. In Laudato Si', Pope Francis explored St Francis’ vision of the interconnec...tedness of all of creation in God and in this new letter he offers a vision of the interconnectedness of all human beings in God. He also speaks of the inalienable dignity of every human person and the need for open dialogue in all relationships. 23.01.2022 We would like to welcome foundation student Darius Kebbell to our college community. Darius said he cannot wait to make history when he walks through the doors of our college in 2021. I always wanted to do something really special and being a foundation pupil means a lot to me, as that will be set in the history books forever, Darius said. 21.01.2022 Today we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday and the theme: Together in the Spirit. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) to rethink ways in how we empower Catholics to mark this special day. NATSICC has gone digital, hosting the first ever livestreamed Mass from St Francis Xaviers Cathedral in Adelaide. 20.01.2022 It was our great pleasure to welcome Bishop Ken Howell and a number of special guests to celebrate the official Blessing of the Soil, which marks an important milestone in our journey of building a Catholic secondary school community in the Lockyer Valley. 12.01.2022 We are seeking expressions of interest from people with experience in organising staff, preparation and ordering of supplies and operation of a college canteen/tuckshop or something similar. In 2021, Sophia College will start the school year with close to 100 Year 7 students. We are looking to ensure we have a canteen/tuckshop facility available for these students and staff. At this point in time it is not certain whether the facility will operate on a daily basis, it will be dependant on what service and financial viability it has on the finances of the college.
