25.01.2022 If you’re avoiding breakfast because of your gut issues, or just don’t feel hungry in the morning, a balanced smoothie is packed full of nutrients and fibre to start the day off on the right foot. Packed with protein, fibre and healthy fats - eating or drinking a balanced meal helps to maintain steady energy levels, preventing a crash and those sugar cravings in the afternoon. In my coaching I help you to make small lifestyle shifts that support your gut healing so that you c...an find long term relief What’s your fave smoothie combo?

24.01.2022 Bloating, going to the toilet too frequently, or not often enough, pain, excessive gas, feeling sick or a bit off after eating - these are all signs that something isn’t quite right in your gut, and serotonin is the link to how it may be affecting your mood... Fixing your gut issues can help you feel better in so many ways. For more info send me a DM

20.01.2022 ‘A bloated body is a coping body, an adaptive body, a working body, a worthy body, a loveable body and a good body.’ Our bodies are with us through all of life’s changes, the ups and downs, standing strong; and that is something to be grateful for. Our symptoms are the body’s way of crying out for help. Don’t ignore them, listen, and take one step at a time to give it what it needs.

20.01.2022 Have you set yourself health goals for the new year? If 2 weeks have gone by and your kicking those goals, then kudos to you. If not, and you’re starting to feel deflated, then maybe seeing a practitioner for support and advice may be what you need to do to start feeling good again and get on top of your health, once and for all.... As a nutritionist this is exactly what I do - offer support and advice in a very individualised way. Whether you just want to make sure you’re eating right for your own body; or your frustrating gut symptoms won’t go away and have started to affect your energy and mood; having someone set simple steps to get your health back on track may be what you need. I’m now seeing clients back in clinic at Flowstate Physio, and taking online appointments for those outside of Hobart. Link in bio for more details

16.01.2022 Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. Via @maryandjean_

13.01.2022 Does the thought of ‘eating the rainbow’ sound really daunting and time consuming to you? That’s ok, there are other ways to implement getting a variety of brightly coloured fruits and veg into your diet. How about eating a minimum of 3 bright colours with each meal - sounds achievable?... Whether that’s adding berries and kiwi to your brekky, some avo and tomato in with your lunch, switching to a brown rice and adding a handful of spinach into whatever you’re cooking at dinner. The reason we need to eat the rainbow in the first place? It’s the polyphenols and antioxidants in these foods which help prevent disease; so your not getting to 50 and falling apart/feeling old, with many debilitated years left. No thanks to that! It’s Monday - give it a try throughout this week. Habits always take energy at first, but after a while they become just that - a habit. Any questions or if you need help with this, let me know!

13.01.2022 Want to optimise your gut health + reduce those symptoms? Here is the 1st of my 5 guidelines to do so: 1. Maximise plant based diversity. This means: eat more plant foods (foods that grow - grains, legumes, nuts, veg etc), and eat lots of different ones!... The 2kg of healthy bacteria that live in our gut THRIVE off fibre. And we find fibre in all our plant foods. They also love a variety of these foods all the time. Healthy bacteria in our gut is an indicator of how healthy our gut is; and is an important step in reducing our gut symptoms. So are you in the habit of buying the same foods all the time? Have you removed certain food groups? I challenge you to include something different each time you shop. Need help and support to make the right changes for you? Send me a DM and let’s chat

13.01.2022 Over restricting your diet and skipping meals to avoid bloating and other symptoms is not going to heal your gut I know what it’s like to get all caught up and confused about every meal. But honestly, and I’ve seen this happen many times, the moment you start to eat more veggies, more carbs, and worry less about sticking to your strict diet you start to feel better! The goal isn’t to have the most restrictive diet, the goal is to heal!... Yes there is a place for things like a low FODMAP diet, which for some people is necessary, but only short term. The trick is to shift your lifestyle to one that’s conductive to healing, working out what’s actually causing your gut issues, and adding in quality healing foods and supplements. So what are you going to start doing to actually repair your gut? If you want some support figuring it all out, let me know, I’m here to help.

12.01.2022 But you eat really well? So what causes it? If you’re eating plenty of iron rich foods and your levels are low, then most likely there’s an issue in your gut with the way you’re absorbing - or not absorbing - it. These are the main culprits:... 1. Low stomach acid (often caused by stress!) 2. Gut infection, like h.pylori or a parasite. 3. Damage to the gut lining - aka leaky gut, so common! There are other factors as well, but these are a stand out for me, especially if you have other digestive symptoms. Can you relate to any of these symptoms? Best to see your GP to get your levels checked, and then speak to me about working on your gut health and optimising your diet. Note: make sure you test before supplementing - high iron can have a negative affect on your body!

06.01.2022 Although I love the warmth.. there’s something comforting and unique about the crispness of our beaches down here

06.01.2022 Mexican food. Ranking high as one of my New Years resolutions for 2021! Why? It’s based around plants, grains and protein rich beans - all whole foods that are:... Super simple to construct Delicious fresh flavours! So much nourishment for your bod If you’re trying to eat more plants then Mexican is a great way to do it. Play around with throwing these simple things together and adding some mexican flare - I will be!

05.01.2022 The easiest throw together dessert? These no-bake brownie bites should add the desired amount of post meal sweetness without the ‘I’m gonna be sick’ feeling.. Inspired by @minimalistbaker no-bake brownie bites, I basically used what I had at home, and added a bit of whisky for festivity I put the following in my mixer:... - 14 medjool dates - 1/4 c cacao - 3 tbsp hemp seeds - 1/4 hazelnuts - 1.5 tbsp nut butter - good pinch of salt - splash of vanilla extract Then I added some coconut cream and whisky, because I thought it would taste delish Blended and rolled in more cacao/coconut/chia. So easy to adapt to what you’ve got though. Full of so much goodness. Dates yes are so sweet, but contain a lot of vitamins and minerals our body needs. Enjoy
