25.01.2022 Creating stories and water painting #sophieslearningtree

24.01.2022 Although our new mud kitchen/water table still has some finishing touches to add, the children simply could not wait!

23.01.2022 As painting is a daily request for these girlies, today we mixed it up and did some tissue paper painting using water. The girls enjoyed experimenting with the tissue paper and water, and were very intrigued as the colours transferred from the tissue paper onto their page. #sophieslearningtree #tissuepaperpainting

23.01.2022 A little video I came across during my studies

23.01.2022 We’ve been sprucing up our outdoor environment of late and have just added some bark chips to our gardens. This morning I watched this child climb up into our garden and begin filling his dump truck up with the bark. He then drove his truck along the wall and dumped it off and then went back for more. He sat there for quite some time and was so engaged in his play. Oh how I love watching children using their imagination and creativity in role play.

22.01.2022 Yesterday the children enjoyed painting and throwing Boomerangs. #naidocweek #sophieslearningtree

20.01.2022 This is where you’ll find us today

14.01.2022 Another morning spent exploring the beautiful surroundings of our daycare #naturewalk #naturebasedlearning #sophieslearningtree

14.01.2022 We might of had to postpone our excursion to our local pool today, but that wasn’t stopping us from cooling off in the pool! A massive thank you to one of our wonderful families for the last minute drop off of their blow up pool! The children had such a fun time! Bring on our excursion next week #sophieslearningtree

13.01.2022 When relocating our daycare last year, we discovered our new house had a beautiful Jacaranda tree in the front yard. A little piece of my home town Our post code may have changed and the festivities may have been cancelled, but we are still celebrating Jacaranda, with a Jacaranda inspired invitation to play. The children love admiring our beautiful Jacaranda tree and flowers and have enjoyed exploring the theme of Jacaranda through a few different activities over the last couple of weeks. This included frozen Jacaranda ice cubes, the creation of our own Jacaranda tree and today’s purple play dough with Jacaranda flowers, stamps and sparkles. #sophieslearningtree #jacaranda #invitationtoplay

13.01.2022 Yesterday’s morning yoga session

12.01.2022 First day for 2021- looking forward to all of the fun times ahead

10.01.2022 The children are enjoying exploring with our new wooden skittles this morning! Such a great little game that improves fine and gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination #sophieslearningtree #kmartaus #finemotorskills #grossmotorskills #handeyecoordination

08.01.2022 One of the boys explored using STEM concepts this morning, as he stacked and balanced some rocks. Here he begins to learn about gravity, weight and stability of the rocks and develops his fine motor skills, cognitive thinking skills and uses his hand- eye coordination and creativity skills. He also experimented with the order in which he placed the rocks and used trial and error to figure out which combination worked best. A great nature based learning experience! #sophieslearningtree #stemexploration #rockbalancing #naturebasedlearning

06.01.2022 Our garden is growing more each and every day, and the children are loving playing their part in the growing process #sophieslearningtree #ourgrowinggarden

06.01.2022 As this week is NAIDOC week and National Recycling week, today the children made rain sticks using recycled paper towel rolls, paint, paper and rice. The children were very eager to use their rain sticks this afternoon and danced along to some cultural music.

05.01.2022 Nature in our neighbourhood The last few months have been hard, especially for the children, but today we were able to get out and about and go for a little neighbourhood walk. We went and sat by the creek and had a picnic morning tea and listened to the sounds of nature around us. We searched for birds in the trees and fish in the creek and just loved soaking it all in. The children were very excited when we spotted some tiny fish swimming in the creek and we sat quietly ...and watched them move through the water. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful natural environment surrounding our daycare and the children absolutely loved exploring it. Through these experiences the children are able to connect with and explore their natural world. This is an important aspect of child development, as it provides opportunity for the children to increase resilience, asses risks and manage situations, develop their social and physical wellbeing, fine and gross motor skills, and improve their self confidence around water and their water safety. #sophieslearningtree #naturebasedlearning #neighbourhoodwalk #exploringournaturalworld #thisisfamilydaycare

03.01.2022 Hello Mr Crabby, what are you doing in there? #sophieslearningtree #hermitcrab

02.01.2022 Delicious cherry tomatoes right from our garden

02.01.2022 Water play has been very popular of late now that it has started to heat up! Bring on the warm days #sophieslearningtree #waterplay #summerready

01.01.2022 This morning the children enjoyed collecting dandelions, which were then used in a simple dandelion threading experience. The children enjoyed threading the dandelions through the holes in a piece of cardboard, that was cut out in the shape of a heart. Another great nature based learning experience that allows children to concentrate and develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor control. #sophieslearningtree #naturebasedlearning #dandelion #finemotorcontrol #concerntration
