21.01.2022 Carving. Usually this is my meditation but in recent weeks I’ve felt the pressure to complete orders and have found my body getting sore after a day in the shed. This is a reminder for me to slow down, breathe and enjoy the process. You can’t hurry carving.

04.01.2022 I get loads of questions about tools so I thought this post might help. I only use seasoned (dry) timber so this post is only relevant to that. To start out spoon carving you only need a carving knife (I use @morakniv from @carbatec or @theknifeshopau_bris ) and either a hook knife (my favs are m-Stein from @vespertools or the beautiful handmade ones from @von_trott ) or a #pfeil long bent chisel from @carbatec. The chisel is a little less awkward to use than a hook knife wh...en starting out but a hook knife will enable you to do more with different shapes and sizes once you get the hang of it. Once you’re addicted, because let’s face it that always happens, you can look at spokeshaves and drawknives but I’ll post about them another time. If you’re looking for a one stop shop I sell knives, m-stein hook knives, chisels (if they’re in stock) and spoon blanks. It doesn’t take much to get a little kit together so you can carve wherever and whenever you like. Let me know if you have any questions.
