22.01.2022 We had the opportunity to meet with the head of the Sydney School Mr Anthony Renshaw to speak to us on a number of directions for the work for this term. It was truly uplifting and encouraging to hear practical ways in which we can uplift ourselves and those around us.

Several years ago, Bob Hawke and his wife Blanche dAlpuge attended a talk on Plato at t...he School of Practical Philosophy in Sydney. Dr David Horan was running the event on a visit from Ireland. Bob posed the following question to Dr Horan: "If a young person were to ask you what benefits are to be derived from reading Plato and Socrates, how would you reply succinctly?" The answer from Dr Horan: "It would enable you to think for yourself and, in particular, challenge your own fixed, preconceived ideas in a productive and useful manner, so that you can develop and free yourself from the shackles of the thinking framework which you have inherited."

We had a most entertaining and thoroughly inspiring discussion with Ross and Simon who are passionate about the subject and which gave us all a new way of looking at the classics. It showed us how with a systematic approach and regular discussion with a fellow traveler can illuminate and deepen the knowledge that is contained in these great works. It gives us a new light on current issues and a reflective look at our own state of being. The Canberra school would like to thank them for their generosity and infectious enthusiasm and we look for another opportunity for them to visit us.

04.01.2022 I have been on the web for some time now looking for a replacement piano and finally found this one from a lady who wanted to give it to someone who would look after it. I became the first choice from a number of interested people. She vetted all the applicants. We will be getting a tuner in soon as you apparently have to wait sometime for the piano to acclimatize to the new situation.
