24.01.2022 Bicycle pick-up - Recycle your bicycle. In the coming weeks we will be organising for a bicycle pick-up day (we are getting a van and coming around to people's homes to pick up un-used or un-wanted bicycles - bicycles must be in working order or need only minor repair) to donate to the AMES Bicycle Project - bicycles are then given to newly arrived migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers who really need them and who might not have money for pubic transport (also part of our healthy living - health and wellbeing action plan). Have a bicycle you want to get rid of? This is your chance. Private message me or come in and se me and I'll take down your pick-up address and add it to my list. Thank you so much! xo

10.01.2022 Dear valued customers and friends, An Exciting New Direction for fifty-six threads café fifty-six threads café was established in 2010 by AMES Australia as a social enterprise to provide on- the- job workplace training. AMES Australia plays a role in the settlement journeys of newly arrived refugees and migrants and works to build local connections within the community. It has recently been looking at how best it can do this with the café ... A recent review has identified that community value can be enhanced by using the venue for more locally focused activity and enhancing the facilitys ability to train people interested in a catering career. AMES Australia will close the café to redo some of the internal layout for better training capacity and to trial some pilot programs and projects before re-opening in early 2016. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you for your support and friendship over the last few years. We are starting a new chapter and will keep you informed. So watch this space for updates See more
