25.01.2022 Tomorrow, May 21st marks International Tea Day Tea is the worlds most-consumed drink, after water. Its production and processing constitute a main source ...of livelihoods for millions of families. The tea industry provides jobs and plays a central role in rural development. As the UN reminds us: "Tea production and processing contribute to the reduction of extreme poverty (SDG 1), the fight against hunger (SDG 2), the empowerment of women (SDG 5) and the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems (SDG 15)". Women constitute more than 50% of the workforce on tea plantations and often do not have access to education. #wednesdaywisdom #westandupforwomen #soroptimisteurope #internationalteaday #womensempowerment #SDG #eleanorroosevelt See more

01.01.2022 A charming vision with a chilling message. A small picket-fenced house is the focus for a conversation about the number of women killed in Australia each ...year, in violent crimes. Made from scrapbooking paper the houses tell the story of life and death. "The thing about paper is its very fragile, I could just hit that with one fist and thats destroyed." Paulette Hayes based her artwork on the research of Destroy the Joint Counting Dead Women project.
