22.01.2022 Kurt Vonnegut: When I was 15, I spent a month working on an archeological dig. I was talking to one of the archeologists one day during our lunch break and he... asked those kinds of getting to know you questions you ask young people: Do you play sports? What’s your favorite subject? And I told him, no I don’t play any sports. I do theater, I’m in choir, I play the violin and piano, I used to take art classes. And he went WOW. That’s amazing! And I said, Oh no, but I’m not any good at ANY of them. And he said something then that I will never forget and which absolutely blew my mind because no one had ever said anything like it to me before: I don’t think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you’ve got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them. And that honestly changed my life. Because I went from a failure, someone who hadn’t been talented enough at anything to excel, to someone who did things because I enjoyed them. I had been raised in such an achievement-oriented environment, so inundated with the myth of Talent, that I thought it was only worth doing things if you could Win at them. See more

17.01.2022 A wise teacher once brought balloons to school, told her pupils to blow them up and write their name on one. After the children tossed their balloons into the h...all, the teacher moved through the hall mixing them all up. The kids were given five minutes to find the balloon with their name on it, but though they searched frantically, no one found their own balloon. Then the teacher told them to take the balloon closest to them and give it to the person whose name was on it. In less than two minutes, everyone was holding their own balloon. The teacher said to the children, These balloons are like happiness. We won't find it when we're only searching for our own. But if we care about someone else's happiness...it will ultimately help us find our own. See more

12.01.2022 Anti-mask, pro-mask, anti-app, pro-app, anti-lockdown pro-lockdown The 'pro/anti' dualism is a largely false construct which forces an 'all or nothing' approa...ch when in reality there are a range of intermediate positions. When one falls into the ‘anti’ or ‘pro’ camp on any given position, they typically hold very strong beliefs which often leads to heated arguments when challenged by an opposing view. Anyone who disagrees is typically labelled unintelligent, a sheep or a Karen. And what does this lead to? Division. Strangers on social media going head to head in an effort to change the other's mind. Worse still, family and friends parting ways or blocking each other because neither person is willing to accept a different perspective. Who benefits from a nation that is so divided? We implore you to think about your actions and your words. In such distressing times, it is important to be kind to one another, to uplift each other's spirits and stand together to help create a brighter future for our children and future generations.

03.01.2022 After discovering this rather cosy grass bed in the hollow of a fallen tree we decided to set up a camera to capture some footage. We were able to ID 2 different wombats using this spot within a 6 day period. It was used everyday, multiple times a day/night.
