25.01.2022 Hello friends Our Soul Time event for May has unfortunately been cancelled due to the current pandemic. The May theme, Visions of Oneness explores the meaning of this concept in all its forms between humankind and nature, between us and our creator, and between one another.... We intend to resume regular Soul Time events as soon as we are able: the next is scheduled for Sunday 16 August and then Sunday 15 November. Time: 10am 12pm Where: Henrietta Rose Room, Bowral, in the forecourt of Bowral Library Attached is the program that we would have been offering, so that we can share an opportunity to reflect on these inspiring themes and the common threads that tie us all together. It features readings from the major faiths, philosophers, authors, leaders and indigenous cultures, from all over the world. Each month a new theme is chosen and a rich program is created to take an inspiring journey into a world of uplifting words and sounds. We have especially included and paid tribute to all the wonderful musicians who have contributed so much to the Soul Time programs over the past few years. A quote from the program: We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth as brothers. Dr Martin Luther King (1967) Soul Time is a community service initiative of Wingecarribee Baha'i community: It is not a religious event. It’s a beautiful way to inspire people, to bring people together no matter what their religion or spiritual beliefs and spend a thoughtful nurturing hour at a lovely location, to be inspired about how the world could look... 21.01.2022 Hello friends Our Soul Time events will now be offered via Zoom. The first one will be on Sunday July 19 at 7 pm and will send you a link close to the time. In the meantime, we offer a couple of quotes on kindness and maintaining our mental health - something we all need at this time: ... We must not only be patient with others, infinitely patient!, but also with our own poor selves... Persevere and add up your accomplishments... Everyone’s life has both a dark and bright side. The Master said: ‘turn your back to the darkness and your face to me.’ Shoghi Effendi Dost thou deem thyself a small and puny form, When thou foldest within thyself the greater world? Bahá’u’lláh

21.01.2022 70% of the 1.2 billion people living in poverty are female In past ages it was held that woman and man were not equal that is to say woman was considered inferior to man, even from the standpoint of her anatomy and creation. She was considered especially inferior in intelligence, and the idea prevailed universally that it was not allowable for her to step into the arena of important affairs. In some countries man went so far as to believe and teach that woman belonged to a ...sphere lower than human. But in this century, which is the century of light and the revelation of mysteries, God is proving to the satisfaction of humanity that all this is ignorance and error; nay, rather, it is well established that mankind and womankind as parts of composite humanity are co-equal and that no difference in estimate is allowable, for all are human. ‘Abdu’l Bahá, from Promulgation of Universal Peace See more

21.01.2022 On average, women are paid 30-40% less than men for comparable work, which makes it even more difficult for women to overcome poverty than men. The world of humanity consists of two parts: male and female. Each is the complement of the other. Therefore, if one is defective, the other will necessarily be incomplete, and perfection cannot be attained. There is a right hand and a left hand in the human body, functionally equal in service and administration... If we say one hand is deficient, we prove the inability and incapacity of the other; for single handed there is no full accomplishment. Just as physical accomplishment is complete with two hands, so man and woman, the two parts of the social body, must be perfect... ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, from Promulgation of Universal Peace

19.01.2022 We loved the last Soul Time program on 25 October - here is a quote from it: The happiness and greatness rank and station, the pleasure and peace, of an individual have never consisted in his personal wealth, but rather in his excellent character, his high resolve, the breadth of his learning, and his ability to solve difficult problems. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, from the Bahá'í Writings

16.01.2022 A quote from the October Soul Time happening on 25 October: You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.... Mahatma Gandhi See more

11.01.2022 If the hope of man be limited to the material world, what ultimate result is he working for? A man with even a little understanding must realize that he should not emulate the worm that holds to the earth in which it is finally buried. How can man be satisfied with this low degree? How can he find happiness there? My hope is that you may become free from the material world and strive to understand the meaning of the heavenly world, the world of lasting qualities, the world of truth, the world of eternal kingliness, so that your life may not be barren of results, for the life of the material man has no fruit of reality. Lasting results are produced by reflecting the heavenly existence. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

10.01.2022 And let it be known once more that until woman and man recognize and realize equality, social and political progress here or anywhere will not be possible... Until these two members are equal in strength, the oneness of humanity cannot be established, and the happiness and felicity of mankind will not be a reality. God willing, this is to be so. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, from Promulgation of Universal Peace

08.01.2022 Hello friends Our Soul Time events in Bowral have unfortunately been cancelled for now but we intend to resume as soon as we are able and will let you know when this happens. In the meantime, we offer a couple of quotes on hope - something indispensable for us all: ... Look up, my people, The dawn is breaking, The world is waking To a new bright day Where none defame us, No restriction tame us, No colour shame us, No sneer dismay. A Song of Hope by Oodgeroo of the tribe Noonuccal (formerly Kath Walker) Take pride not in love for yourselves but in love for your fellow creatures. Glory not in love for your country, but in love for all mankind. Bahá’u’lláh

08.01.2022 Hello friends Our first Zoom Soul Time event is happening this Sunday July 19 at 7 pm. Here is the link to join us: Join Zoom Meeting... https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8217379356 Soul Time is an initiative of the Baha'i Community of Wingecarribee and provides a setting where we can come together to reflect on themes that connect all of us together. Its purpose is to inspire us to transform our lives and communities with actions that promote the unity and the betterment of society. And a couple of quotes from the program: We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth as brothers. Dr Martin Luther King (1967) Let your vision be world-embracing, rather than confined to your own self. Baha’u’llah from the Baha’i Writings By including quotations from a variety of sources, Soul Time reflects the Bahá’í principle of the Oneness of Religion, which gives us the opportunity to reflect on ideas that act as a counterpoint to much of today's news and issues.
