20.01.2022 Yoga poses & functional movements targeting the psoas. Here are some of the movements we explored last Sunday in my slow flow yoga class (speed x 3). The psoas muscle can impact so many parts of our body including our core, lower back and the hips. It can affect our breathing & is particularly sensitive to stress. With this in mind, we need to work this part of the body in many different ways. Simply stretching is not enough. A combination of strengthening & lengthening tog...ether with both active & passive ways of moving can be particularly beneficial. We will continue to explore this important muscle in this weeks class on Sunday 9am. Book via website.

20.01.2022 I will be focusing on the practice of gratitude in my yoga classes this week. We will work with opening the upper body (chest, shoulders, upper back) as these areas relate to our heart centre, the place where we feel gratitude. Gratitude can be a very powerful way of increasing our sense of happiness, which we may be struggling with during these challenging & difficult times. 08.01.2022 Here we are, my family. We are white, brown and a mixture of both. We are Christian & Muslim. We are Polish, Indonesian & Australian . We speak 3 different languages between us. But more importantly we are human beings that love each other for the people that we are on the inside, beyond how we look, what God we follow & the cultural traditions that we have. At the end of the day we are all human despite our race, religion, culture, gender, social or financial status. ... Lets choose love over hate, understanding over judgement, connection over separateness. Lets embrace our differences because we are stronger together.

08.01.2022 Its on again tomorrow at 9.30am. Take 30min to gently move your body, improve your breathing & connect to inner stillness and calm. No better way to start the day! In the session tomorrow we will focus on our hip flexor muscles to counteract all the sitting that we do followed by belly breathing to calm our nervous system. Have a chair or lounge available to put your legs up on & something to prop up your pelvis - block, bolster, foam roller or very thick book. Hope to see you there (behind the screen!)

08.01.2022 Exploring spinal movements Did you know that your spine can move in 5 different ways? 1. Flexion - forward bending 2. Extension- backbending... 3. Lateral flexion - sidebending 4. Rotation- twisting 5. Axial extension- lengthening Here is a little yoga flow to warm up the spine and move it in all the different ways. Have you tried breaking down your cat/cow into 3 movements to focus on the 3 different parts of the spine - lumbar, thoracic & cervical.

We are not separate & what we do to others we do to ourselves. One of the foundations of yoga is to cause no harm, to be kind & compassionate (ahimsa) to all living beings.... With all the turmoil going on in the world at the moment, as yogis we must ask ourselves how we are contributing to this situation and how can we be part of the solution?
