24.01.2022 Muscles and nerve fibers allow us to move our bodies. They enable our internal organs to function. The human body has over 600 muscles, which make up around 40 percent of our bodyweight. All muscles are made of a kind of elastic tissue. Each muscle consists of thousands, or tens of thousands, of small musculus fibers. Each muscle fiber is about 40 millimeters long. It consists of tiny strands of fibrils.... Each muscle fiber is commanded by a nerve, which makes it contract. A muscles strength depends mainly on how many fibers are present. To fuel a muscle, the body metabolizes food to make adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and muscle cells turn ATP into mechanical energy.

24.01.2022 Dear Clients, This is the latest Update from my Association, to continue to provide treatment for clients. Taking extra precautions. ATMS Member Update: Coronavirus (COVID-19) This is a special member newsletter update to provide the most current clinical guidance and resources for COVID-19, as published by the Australian government.... These resources are for health professionals, including natural medicine practitioners, to continue to provide treatment for clients. One of the best current sources of advice for all natural medicine practitioners are these Australian government resources. They are updated regularly so all practitioners are encouraged to check these resources regularly.

24.01.2022 Dear Clients, We know that current events are creating concern in the community and I just wanted to update you on the hygiene precautions I am taking in my home clinic to protect you and your family. **Most importantly I am asking clients with cold and flu symptoms to please reschedule until they have recovered and of course observe 14 days of self-quarantine if they have returned from anywhere overseas.**... I have trained in Infection Control and have also undertaken the recent Infection Control COVID -19 training. This is displayed in my clinic. On a happier note if you are working from home it might be a good time to get that treatment scheduled and ensure you can keep working productively. Hygiene Precautions I am OPEN and have procedures in place to manage risks to keep our community healthy and safe. I shall continue to respond to the current global health challenge, and am taking regular advice from the WHO and the Australian Department of Health. I have in place procedures to protect you and the clinic. These include: * Regularly cleaning all surfaces including door knobs, frequently touched equipment and bench tops * Washing our hands with soap and water regularly * Having hand sanitiser available for clients * Linen is changed on massage table after each client and any hard surfaces are cleaned between clients. To most small businesses, this is a particularly challenging time and want to express my IMMENSE gratitude to those of you who have booked and attended your appointments, as well shared kind words via txt messages - all of which go a long way in helping to stay afloat during this unprecedented time. Please contact me any time on email [email protected] or phone 0412091390 . Id be happy to answer any questions and concerns you may have. Stay safe, eat healthy food, exercise, get some fresh air, look out for our elderly and most vulnerable and most importantly be kind to each other!! Soula Nakov

22.01.2022 DO NOT ROLL OUT THESE AREAS OF YOUR BODY Foam rollers or lacrosse balls can be really useful to self-release tight muscles or trigger points however not every part of the body can be rolled out. We need to keep common sense about where to and where NOT to be rolling out. It is not recommend to roll out the following 5 areas of the body. ... 1. Side of your neck, especially behind your collar bone. There are lots of nerves there. 2. Armpit; there are some important muscles accessible in this region, but its also easy to press your nerves against your arm bone and thinking its good because it hurts. 3. Between your triceps and biceps, on the inside of your arm. This area is also an area where you are able to directly press your nerves and blood vessels against the bone. Never a good idea. 4. Your abdomen. Stop pressing heavy objects into your abdomen. Are you trying to roll out your liver and kidneys? Your psoas is underneath all your organs. 5. Back of your knee. You have nerves and blood vessels directly in the back of your knee, proceed gently in this region if at all. When foam rolling, focus on areas of muscle mass, not arteries, nerves or organs.

21.01.2022 THE IMPORTANCE OF A HOLISTIC APPROACH This is why Im always saying you should get your arms massaged. Often I have clients say not to worry about them they are fine..... hmmm really!! Your arms and hands are a key part of how you interact with the world around you. There are 2500 nerves endings in your fingertips, which allow you to perform complex tasks of fine motor control and to sense subtle changes in your environment. It can take something as simple as a paper cut to m...ake you realise how important your hands are in everyday life. Your hand, arm and elbow are influenced by the mobility of your shoulder and neck through their muscular relations and nerve supply. Alongside this, most of the muscles that control your grip, originate from your forearm and so its important to understand the cause of any problem to ensure you receive a correct diagnosis and effective treatment. Arm pain is commonly caused by the overuse conditions of tennis and golfers elbow, and nerve entrapments such as carpal tunnel syndrome and thoracic outlet syndrome. The picture below represents what your massage therapist see in the anatomy books vs. the reality.

09.01.2022 FUN FACTS ABOUT BONES The adult human body has 206 of them. There are 26 bones in the human foot. The human hand, including the wrist, contains 54 bones.... The femur, or thighbone, is the longest and strongest bone of the human skeleton. The stapes, in the middle ear, is the smallest and lightest bone of the human skeleton. Arms are among the most commonly broken bones, accounting for almost half of all adults broken bones. The collarbone is the most commonly broken bone among children. Bones stop growing in length during puberty. Bone density and strength will change over the course of life, however. The only bone in the human body not connected to another is the hyoid, a V-shaped bone located at the base of the tongue. Bones are made up of calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and other minerals, as well as the protein collagen. Bones function as the skeleton of the human body, allow body parts to move and protect organs from impact damage. They also produce red and white blood cells. See more

03.01.2022 Therapeutic Massage is also very important for your mental health. Massage therapy helps to calm the mind which increases mental alertness and clear thinking. f...acial massage activates the sympathetic nervous system and improves a persons mood. When done often, it reduces stress and anxiety levels. Cooler weather, Id consider HOT STONE MASSAGE The purpose of hot stone massage is to balance the energy centres of the body by loosening tight muscles using heat. Smooth, heated stones are placed on specific points on the body usually the sides of the spine, along the length of the legs, on the abdomen, and on both the palms and feet. This form of massage is deeply relaxing and calming, and is often used to treat anxiety and depression, as well as back pain, muscle pain, and insomnia. The relaxation from the heat and pressure of the stones assist in easing mental stress and improving blood flow, which in turn helps to regulate hormone levels. See more
