24.01.2022 My dear Souls, do you have a young loved one suffering from teen acne? If so, shoot them through this weeks NEW video. I offer a holistic view point on this topic featuring both internal and external interventions. Link is in my bio (on instagram)... On a separate note, I want to let you know that I am absolutely dedicated to sharing a new piece of information EVERY SINGLE WEEK on the platform YouTube. I am doing this because I have personally experienced HOW POWERFUL education can truly be. Feel welcome to go subscribe to my channel if you are interested in learning about HOW TO TREAT acne. With so much love + gratitude Kathleen xo See more
24.01.2022 What are your personal signs of IMBALANCE? How do you know when you are going a little OFF course with your wellness? Maybe you have never experienced wellness and you have only ever experienced pain and suffering?... Let me teach you some of the signs or indicators for when your internal state is suffering. The main point you need to know is this, your body is trying to communicate with you ALL THE TIME, you just might not be listening or know what to look for. Your skin is just ONE of the indicators for knowing when your internal state is a little out of whack. & because I live and breathe skin, I will teach you some of the indicators that your skin is trying to tell you. Underlying redness + heat This could mean SO MANY things and a proper consultation is necessary to make an educated guess, however, long standing redness and especially HEAT is not a normal state. Look out for it and seek guidance if you are seeing redness not related to exercise, blushing or the temperature. Excess oil + water (oily shine) This could mean an impaired barrier, a change in hormones, an unhealthy diet and many more things. Its normal to have a little bit of a shine, but in excess, this should be looked at. Dryness + flaking This is a result of so many things, but it could mean excess stress, a change in hormones, lack of water and omega 3s in your diet. An impaired barrier, internal inflammation. There are so many reasons for this. Pimples + congestion (or acne) Again, so many possibilities... Think hormones, gut health, stress, an impaired barrier, pshyocolgical duress, inflammation. Itchiness This usually relates to your immune system or it could mean you have a build up of cells on your skin. Tell me your sings Souls! Kathleen x
24.01.2022 Here are some SIMPLE skincare swaps that you can make if you are in the process of healing your skin from acne. 1. Face wipes are a NO NO unfortunately. They don't cleanse skin properly and because of the nature of them, they usually contain a lot of fragrances and preservatives which are both very irritating to acne. Swap the face wipes for a simple, pH friendly cleanser. You want your cleanser to cleanser your skin, without stripping away your natural ski...n barrier. 2. It doesn't make sense to create an oxygen free environment for a pimple when this is the exact thing that helps the C.Acnes bacteria to grow and proliferate. Personally, I don't think pimple patches are your best option, instead go for a clay mask! Choose a natural clay mask, pop it on your acne 2 - 3 times per week and you will notice the inflammation reduce and you will have softer skin afterwards. 3. Ditch the harsh scrubs and switch to a gentle enzyme exfoliator. The beauty of Enzymes is that they don't over exfoliate or irritate most skins. You simply paint them on, massage them in and wash them off. Much less aggressive then a scrub. 4. If you have acne, you don't need to go for an 'oil free' product just because the marketing is leading you to believe this. Instead, aim to get a CUSTOM moisturiser made up especially for your skin and the acne that you are presenting with. Here in my clinic I customise skincare with different ingredients because each and every person I meet is uniquely different. If you are serious about results, you will want a custom approach. 5. Ditch the elaborate routine and go for a SIMPLE skincare routine. Because your skin is inflamed, you never want to overwhelm it, just stick to the basics and make sure that the skincare products you own are EXTREMELY effective for fighting acne don't know what ingredients to use? Come and see me for a consult and I will help you with that See more
22.01.2022 The first step to living an acne free life is to actually recognise that you have acne and to identify the type of acne present on your skin. Without a proper diagnosis, you may be treating your skin for the incorrect condition and this in turn only delays the treatment process. This is why it is so incredibly important to seek guidance from a professional who specialises in acne - like Kathleen here at Soul Awaken ... Once you have been guided onto the appropriate pathway to heal your acne - you can then start to implement DIY strategies at home. And that brings us to this week’s YouTube video topic. This is an exciting one Souls Kathleen discusses everything you should be utilizing at home to speed up the treatment process and to be your very own skin therapist (with professional guidance of course). Head on over to our YouTube channel and click the little bell icon to get notified on when this video becomes available. See more

15.01.2022 An emotional story + WHAT WE ARE DOING TO HELP here at Soul Awaken Skin Therapies (+ how you can help too)
10.01.2022 This lovely soul didn't even realise her skin barrier was compromised until she came to see me! Can you see how all of that underlying inflammation has now reduced? Her skin is now much more brighter.... Her skin has a natural glow. She is using less products then ever before. Her skin is HEALTHIER Annnnd she isn't relying on exfoliation anymore. She is now exfoliating much less often and allowing her skin to heal and REGENERATE by it's self. Exfoliation actually happens naturally within your skin, but only when it is HEALTHY and functioning properly. Exfoliation isn't a necessity, its a luxury for healthy skin. And if you don't believe me... think of all the guys in your life who have soft, smooth and glowing skin without ever having to exfoliate their skin. Unfortunately skincare marketing has led us to believe that we must exfoliate 2 - 3 times per week. When you understand skin science, you won't want to exfoliate this often. To conclude, this lovely lady above is going well on her skin transformation journey. We still have more forward steps to make, but we are absolutely on track. I am so happy for her!!! Have a Q about this photo? Pop it below, I'd love to continue this conversation with you all With love + gratitude, Kathleen x

03.01.2022 Do you know what a Skin Analysis involves? I always provide a thorough analysis of your skin during both your Initial Skin Consultation and during all follow up Skin Reviews. First, I take a quick look at your skin WITH your make-up still left on your skin (if wearing it) because it can be really helpful for me to see how your skin looks prior to cleansing. ... After this, I thoroughly cleanse your skin twice and then follow up with a specific method of analysing your skin. I analyse the components relating to texture, colour and secretions. From here I am then able to determine the following... Your skin barrier status Whether excess keritinisation is present What types of comedones are present How much inflammation is present Whether you have other skin conditions present Honestly there is so much more that I look for, but I would be here all day listing them but you get the point! Please ask any questions if you have them! And because I am not a medical professional, I will never diagnose anything, but I can simply suggest and infer what's going on. However, because I look at skin ALL DAY EVERY DAY. I have familiarised myself with many different skin conditions, and many times over, I have spotted infections and rashes requiring immediate medical attention. A lot of my findings have then been confirmed by doctors who have then passed their thanks onto me, through my clients. This is very heart warming for me So in conclusion, a Skin Analysis is VERY important and plays a big role in what I can do for you. It helps me to understand exactly how your skin is functioning and it tells me how well you are progressing and what your skin is needing. Kathleen xo
