17.01.2022 At Soul it’s like all our CHRISTMASSES have come at ONCE. - This week we welcomed GUESTS back to our DINING ROOM - WESTS offered to host our GUEST Christmas Party this year - Hampers have started to flood in from all over Newcastle... and on top of that Christmas itself is nearly here. And don’t forget out CHRISTMAS APPEAL. By supporting the Soul Café Christmas Appeal you will be providing Soul with the resources we need to support some of Newcastle’s most vulnerable people. There are two simple ways to get involved with the Soul Café 2020 Christmas Appeal. 1. Get the Soul Café Holiday Hamper shopping list and buy the items on the shopping list. Put them in a reusable shopping bag and drop them into Soul Café before December 17th and we will give them out to our guests through the Christmas holiday period. https://soulcafe.org.au/ 2. Donate cash here. https://soulcafe.grassrootz.com/soul-christmas-2020-/donate Soul Café is community funded, not government funded. Come Christmas Day 2020 Soul Café expects that we will have provided 40,000+ meals to vulnerable people in Newcastle and that is only possible because of the generous financial support of the Newcastle community. Your donation of $2 or more is tax deductible. Currently Soul is providing: - BREAKFAST in the dining room 7.00am-8.30am on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. - LUNCH in the dining room 11am-12.30pm on Monday to Thursday. - Fortnightly LUNCH in the dining room Sunday from 12-1pm - OPEN PANTRY services 1-2.00pm Tuesday / Wednesday and 9-10.00am Friday. The Soul Office is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 2pm (ph 4926 1758). Donations can be dropped into Soul 8am-2pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30-8.30 Fridays. If the door is closed please call the office number for entry 4926 1758.

12.01.2022 Our Guests are back in our dining room more and more Guest services are returning to Soul and it’s exactly one month till Christmas so up go the Christmas decorations at Soul.... 10.01.2022 Where is Phil? A MORE THAN A MEAL story. For most of 2020 that is what we asked ourselves, Where is Phil? He used to be at Soul for breakfast and lunch pretty much everyday. He was always good for a chat and we missed him when he wasn’t around.... After a long absence he turned up at Soul this week and wanted us to read something for him. His eyes are not that good anymore. Everyone was so happy to see him. Stories were told, jokes were laughed at and friendships renewed. When it came time for him to leave Phil reflected My time as part of the Soul family was wonderful but it’s come to an end. For a time I needed the support but I’m okay now. And so it was a bittersweet moment for Soul Café this week. It’s sad that we don’t see Phil everyday but it’s great to know that he is doing so well without us. Thanks to every other workplace in Newcastle who has collected goods for Soul so that we can support the vulnerable.... 01.01.2022 There were so many exciting things happening at Soul yesterday - Soul was able to offer dental hygienist services for the first time ever with Rachel (from Flex your Smile) and Sonja (from Smile Factory) - The ladies from Novotel Newcastle Beach dropped in pantry goods, vegetables and cleaning products - The gang from Clear Sky dropped off holiday hampers - And Soul announced that we are welcoming guests back to our dining room Nov 16th
