20.01.2022 Only 5 more days until doors close for 'Connecting to Land'Only 5 more days until doors close for 'Connecting to Land'

16.01.2022 AWAKENING THE SENSES We're all aware of the five senses - seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. But we actually have several other senses we use almost subconsciously every day, including proprioception and enteroception.... We'll dive into each of these additional senses during the 'Connecting to Land' workshop, but I'd like to share a little more about the heart sense today. Our hearts are incredibly sensitive and intelligent. They emit an energy field that extends well beyond the boundaries of our skin. This field is constantly interacting with what is around us. It combines with what we're feeling, seeing, hearing, etc, to form a sense of knowing. What has this got to do with 'Connecting to Land'? Everything! Much of this workshop will be centred around how we communicate with the land - the trees, forests, creeks and stones. This communication requires us to tap into our heart sense - for it is through our heart that we can start to sense what's going on in the 'other than human' world. If this sounds like something you'd like to explore, please visit: www.laradarlington.com.au/workshops for more info. Please note, I have limited spaces available so encourage you to book early to ensure your spot!!

15.01.2022 DEEP NATURE CONNECTION One of the core elements in my upcoming workshop, 'Connecting to Land', is deep nature connection. The idea of deep nature connection moves beyond nature education and recreation and explores the idea of nature connection with the addition of mentoring.... 'Mentoring draws people to the edge of their knowledge and experience, and guides them into new territory' (Jon Young, Wilderness Guide). During the workshop, we'll explore some of the core routines of deep nature connection, including sit spots, sensory expansion, animal forms and sacred wandering. Participants will be guided through a range of practices, specifically created to deepen their connection and drop into their heart space. One of my favourite practices is 'sacred wandering' - letting go of any agendas and simply allowing nature to be my guide. This practice calls on the inner child - that part of us which is filled with awe and wonder, that wants nothing more than to be wild and free! Follow an animal trail through the forest, dip your feet into the cool water of the creek or climb into the tree tops and view the world from a different perspective. Sacred wandering is simply magic!! * Doors open for just one more week - limited spaces available.

07.01.2022 'CONNECTING TO LAND' The 'why' behind the workshop Over the next few weeks, I'd love to share some snippets from my upcoming workshop.... Before I do this, I'd like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Gumbaynggirr people, and pay my respects to the elders - past, present and emerging. I still have much to learn about the history and culture of our first nations people, but this is something I endeavour to learn and understand through my work today. The seed of this workshop was planted just over a year ago when I sat for four days and nights in a vision quest. My intention was to deepen my connection to this land, to the spirit of the land, and learn how I could best work with it to bring a positive change to our world. A few months after my vision quest, the fires hit our region and we prepared to say goodbuy to our home. Before evacuating, I wandered down to the creek and started to write... 'I wonder what it's going to take for the world to see - that our ignorance and disrespect for nature, is destroying our very homes - and those of our children' 'I wonder when we'll stop seeing ourselves as separate to nature - but so intrinsically connected - in harming the earth, we harm ourselves? I'd read something that brought tears to my eyes - a question from a child, 'If you knew this was happening, why did you ignore it?' What could I do?? I felt utterly hopeless during the fires, but I grasped onto a thread, that seed that was planted just a few months earlier... 'If we each took the time to slow down and spend some time in nature, we couldn't help but fall in love with it. And who would intentionally hurt something they loved?' This is the bones of 'Connecting to Land'. My intention during this workshop, is to create the space for reflection and dialogue with nature, explore a whole range of ways we can deepen our connection, fall in love and share this love with our children. Workshop coming up in just 3 weeks - Saturday 5th December, 2020!! To find out more, visit www.laradarlington.com.au/workshops
